Twin Peaks ReWatch Thread

so, I feel like I've dropped the ball a little w/ this whole thing
I haven't even gotten through episode 1 yet

tbf, we had been trying to organize a group watching behind the scenes so I had been saving it for that...we're hoping to have it up and running this week or next :)

Anyway, this week should be episodes 3 and 4, to be watched by next Tuesday, Sept 16, for anyone who's following along.

My thoughts so far: some of the signature Lynch stuff is annoying me a bit this time (the fire theme, the hysterical mother, the calculated "wackiness" etc) but it's still pretty entertaining. Beautiful setting, I need to get out there some day. :)

Just watched Episode1, in bed with slight hangover. :)

The mother isn't hysterical though is she? 1. She has just lost her daughter and 2. she is having visions.

Also, does anyone else doubt Donna Dianne actually exists? (Agent Cooper's secretary) :D

The building of Laura's character is slightly annoying... Over the top with setting up the good girl gone wrong story... tutor of English and to special educational needs man, delivers meals on wheels, homecoming queen etc... I suppose it just adds to the running theme of nothing being as it seems, which is happening with every character.

I will be catching up to join in this weeks.

It always amassed me how Laura was able to fit everything in, she must have slept about an hour a night!

In Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart and probably some other ones I can't remember, Lynch seems to like scenes featuring older women in an emotionally agitated state, and he likes to turn their agitation and craziness up to 11. The scene where Laura's mom hears the news of Laura's death is the scene I'm thinking of.

very true!

I also am a little confused about Shelly's morning waitressing shift at the diner. Most high schools start before the morning breakfast rush, so I doubt they would put a student on at that time.

She's not at school anymore though - she dropped out to marry Leo.

ok, I see... but either way she left with Bobby who was on his way to school, right? It just seemed silly that they would have a breakfast waitress leave in any case, you'd probably just stay on for lunch as you'd have customers coming in throughout the morning, especially in a small diner like that.

I'd still do Shelly btw!

Think I just figured it out...maybe Shelly had worked the overnight shift. It is sort of a truck stop, right?

Audrey's hair certainly grew a lot between episodes one and two :hmm:

come to think of it, I think the last time around I thought they were two different characters

ok, that's kinda cool for me as i like watching in big chunks so being behind means i can have a little binge to catch up, i've only watched the pilot and ep1, maybe 2. can't remember lol

In Wild at Heat I think Laura Dern (though she's not an older women), is in a car accident crying and screaming for her hairbrush. Perhaps I'll also re-watch Lynch's Eraser Head??

James saying to Donna "My pop was a musician, we were living on the west coast"....um, Twin Peaks is on the west coast too, isn't it

sorry, I like to nitpick!

so many love triangles

Washington state, which I think the septics would call the 'Pacific northwest.' West coast generally means California.

Hi, I happen to be a "septic" and as far as I knew the west coast means the entire west coast, just as the east coast means the entire thing even though it's divided into the South and New England and other areas.
