Turkey V Czech Republic

What was Baros booked for?
You've got to feel sorry for Petr Cech,he's gonna have nightmares about that for years. Although Adrian Chiles' announcement that "I think I'm in love with Petr Cech" was a little unexpected. :D

Yet another dramatic game!

I missed about 75 mins of the match since i was out with a mate, and by chance checked on the score update on my mobile. With the score being 2-0 you'd that that with the experience that the Czech's have got in their team, they would close out a game. Had enough opportunities in the second half to seal it.

But the Turks (or Captain Kirk's) produce an even better comeback than their previous match against the Swiss. Turkey showed commendable fight, spirit, never say die attitude. A deserved win for them & Petr Cech's stunning blunder will probably shown on TV programmes or an DVD compilation of Footballing gaffes. It just shows that even a goal such as Cech can make mistakes. As already said he'll have sleepless nights over that incident.

I reckon this match was won by a few factors:

1. The inability of the Czechs to offer any resistance outside of a big target man Jan Koller up front

2. The amount of ground covered by all the Turks, especially Boro striker Tuncay Sanli

3. Individual brilliance by Turan Arda, and of course
4. Nihat - What an inspirational performance by a talented and very experienced striker. Great positioning in keeping on side after receiving the through ball on the inside by Hamit Altintop (after Jankulovski didn't clear the danger).

Right place right time, and the totally composed finish for that wining third goal was an absolute peach

The Turkish goalie Volkan was right tit for pushing Koller in the penalty area, although he may have been proved by the big Czech. It's no excuse for doing it. I think a certain Rustu Recber will replace Volkan for the match against Croatia on Friday evening.

On this showing Croatia cannot underestimate this team or take them lightly. While the Turkish coach (Faith Terim) has to pick his best team and most experienced team if they are to have any chance of beating the Croatian's

Yet another unbelieveable game of international tournament football, Excellent second half. The second half finish was imo the most dramatic since Spain beat Yugoslavia 4-3 in Euro 2000!

Just my luck, I left Turkey yesterday morning thus missing what would have been the utter madness of watching that in a Turkish pub.

Surprisingly quiet round our way after this result, i think Turkiye are keeping their powder dry for bigger things. Bit of horn hooting but none of the pandemonium we witnessed following the WC last time round.

Was that Kollers last international game then?:confused:poor old Peter"not the best goalie in the world anymore"Cech:p

I swear i was one car blarring it's horn out racing down our street away from breaking out bricks and trashing their windscreens... noisey bastards well done you won a game of kickball or whatever it is fuck the fuck off now some of us have work in the morning eh??

It's a shame that Poland probably won't get to play Turkey in the later stages. That would have been interesting down in the local shops. :D

I haven't read the thread so apols if it's been said already, but I much as I dislike Chelsea, Cech's honest and dignity in his post match interview was quite inspiring.
