croatia vs turkey

Ridiculous stuff from the Turks once again but they'll be torn a new hole by the Germans. This is (a not entirely precise or authoritative) list of who they don't have for the semis:

Arda Turan
Tuncay Sanli
Emre
Servet
Emre Asik
Emre Gungor
Volkan

So it's looking pretty ropey for them. Great names though!

I think it is probably due to Turkeys tactics. They have always scored when they have needed to.They must have some strange tactic, defend like fuck and if we go behind attack like fuck.

With Arda out the stage is set for Kazim Kazim in the semis.

Why do the commentators still insist on calling him Colin Kazim-Richards when that bears very little resemblance to the name on his shirt or on the teamsheet. Talk about English parochialism. Once they're ours, they're ours; regardless of dual nationality or formal name changes.

He calls himself Colin Kazim Richards... or rather, Colin Richards - Kazim is a middle name. It's only an outdated law that means he has to call himself a Turkish name, it doesn't mean his actual name has changed. Same with Marco Aurelio. Their parents wouldn't have started calling Colin 'Kazim' or Marco 'Mehmet'. Fuck all to do with parochialism.

Can't believe I stayed and watch all of that and especially can't believe the outcome right at the end. Feel it for croats. That has to be the worst way ever to lose a football game

yeah, but they've still got Kazim Kazim ;)

LOL.

Gutted for the Croats, especially given my connections with the place and given how one-sided the game was, well it was a travesty. Felt sicker than the proverbial one wing parrot.

But those final couple of minutes, followed by the penalties are what makes football the game it is. Sheer drama on a scale that could not be imagined. Just pure human theatre.

I fucking love football. Even the boring, drossy bits because they add to what the whole magic of the game is. How the hell can a team so lacking in any real quality as Turkey get to the semi-finals ? But they have. Its beautiful. Tragic but beautiful.

I was pretty dead certain this was going to be the customary bore-a-thon of the competition.

But no.

What a competition these finals are cracking up to be!

I fell asleep watching it, then switched over to watch the end of Alexei Sayle, then woke up and watched the last 10 minutes and it was still boring up until the last 10 minutes

That was such a drama, got to feel for the Croats tho, if the manager cracks up then how are a bunch of 20 year olds going to keep their nerve. You also have to feel for the Turks, cheeky fuckers that they are

scene round ours on way home from boozer :D

Great first half, crap second half and 25 minutes of the overtime, then it all went mental. I'm sure the Germans are already planning to protect an eventual lead even after entering the bus to return home :D

I feel sorry for Croatia, 'to. Very classy side, with the most entertaining coach on the sidelines.

The German game is going to be mental. How do Turkey keep doing it? Amazing. The news said they've been ahead for a total of a few minutes in the whole 4 games so far.

The question that's going to linger long after the champions are crowned is what Croatia could have done with Eduardo.

sadness here - with a Croat family - however, we're an international household and we've still got an Italian and a Japanese who supports Spain... :D Plus although I wanted Croatia to win of course, I do rather like the Turks!!
