If he stands it will only be for the republicans, he has made it very clear that he would not run as an independent because "it would split the republican vote and I would not want that".

Trump is well known and admired in the USA, almost to the point of Reagan I would think. Americans love the economy and Trump will play well on that. Also as the republican party potentially having a media savvy front man is scary. Bush was fucking stupid and the republican party stuck by him. I have long said that I would prefer successful people from business or the forces lead the political parties and take power in governments.

I would prefer that to policy wonks whose only life experience is a bit of PR and some politics.
