Trump 'seriously thinking' about presidential run

Arrogant, deluded shit, who is obviously ignorant of US import tariffs that cripple developing economies, the influence of the IMF and World Bank in such economic development around the globe, cheats in US sport, the Cosa Nostra, corrupt, lying US politicians and a military industrial complex that is second to non in its might.

Let's trust he goes the same way as that other billionaire idiot, Ross Perot? Spends a lot of money in the process, on both his election campaign and his hairspray, made in China perhaps?

I'd love to see him and Palin getting elected. The US would go bankrupt and China would be the only superpower. Bring it on.

Donald Trump is now tied with Mike Huckabee for first place when Republicans are asked who they support for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012, according to a new national poll.

I heard him say the other day that he doesn't want to stand as an independent because it would split the Republican vote. I guess we will know in 2 months.

"Trump 'seriously thinking' about presidential run"???? yeah right,Im 'seriously thinking' about having a threesome with Kelly Brook and Salma hayek

"Here's a man who started with nothing, worked hard, and made a fortune. That man is Fred Trump, Donald's father." -Seth MacFarlane

I can't see Trump standing for the Republicans...

And I am sure they have better candidates also ..
If he stands it will only be for the republicans, he has made it very clear that he would not run as an independent because "it would split the republican vote and I would not want that".

Who do you consider a better candidate and why?

He is spending a great deal of time on American TV promoting his candidature, the last couple of weeks attacking Obama and this weekend attacking his nearest republican rival Mike Huckabee. If he doesn't stand he seems to be setting himself up as King maker, but we will now in a few weeks.

Oh, is he, I have no idea what is on US TV ...

Perhaps he thinks he has a chance, would not be the first person to delude himself..

afaict he is a rich property developer, running a country is more complicated than that imho.

stranger things have happened.

ronald reagan was a shit b-movie actor
boris johnson was a comedy dickhead
h'angus the monkey was a football mascot
nick clegg was a liberal democrat

trump could slide into the position of republican candidate depressingly easily...

Yes, stranger things have happened..

Time will tell I suppose.

I guess talking about him as a republican candidate is no stranger than talking of Sarah Palin ..

but then head of the screen actors guild, then governor, before president, on his second try. trump is nothing. he'd go nowhere against a seasoned pro like romney. and by 'pro' i mean pure-horseshit professional-weathervane equally-rich already-elected politician who will use the birther stuff (which the inside GOP loathes) against trump.

His rather colourful private life will go down with the religious right of the GOP like a cup of warm shit

Yup

Trump is well known and admired in the USA, almost to the point of Reagan I would think. Americans love the economy and Trump will play well on that. Also as the republican party potentially having a media savvy front man is scary. Bush was fucking stupid and the republican party stuck by him. Even with his right wing views Trump would be very popular and very scary too.

Yup

Trump is well known and admired in the USA,

But mostly, he's a laughingstock.

Strange things do happen, and I could be wrong, but I'm prepared to go on record and say that Trump will never ever be president. :)

It would certainly be interesting though: elect the first black president in one election, then Donald Trump in the next.

If you want a left-field entry with an actual shot: Arnold Schwarzenegger.

You think? I have not been to the US for a while now but speak on the phone with people most days. Just seems that everyone is hung on the economy above all else. Arnold Schwarzenegger would go down well and Obama is not going to be easy to topple.

Arnold can't run because of the birth requirement, but Arnold has a lot more respect than Trump. Trump is the son of a rich man who started with everything.

Schwarzenegger has way too many skeletons in his closet to ever run for president, the weed smoking and the roids could be overlooked but the amount of times he cheated on his wife? Grabbing at womens tits while they try to interview him? Nazi belt on cover of Time? Pictures of him Sieg Heiling?

Still got more of a shot than Trump though... at least he has his own hair.

Perhaps I should be more specific ..

I have long said that I would prefer successful people from business or the forces lead the political parties and take power in governments.

I would prefer that to policy wonks whose only life experience is a bit of PR and some politics.

.
are these the ONLY sort of people with the right experience? What about the professions (teaching, nursing etc)? Or career civil servants?

...and like Perot, will inadvertently help defeat a republican
