In terms of housing it's honestly not that bad. Initial screenshot is bad though.

You bring in people and build a town on industry, they settle in it and then the govenment takes a wallet of cash and closes that industry. That's a lot of degradation and struggling. A smaller town but the closest UK similar town is Burnley. They even look alike. But there you've got a racist police force amongst a largely black city, and a ready supply of guns (federal problem) AND a small welfare state.

UP THE WORKERS

I recently finished reading Michael K Williams book. A troubled soul trying to do right by his own community and communities like his own. It's an OK read; it's sad and focussed on Williams own personal redemption arc. He was pals with Queen Latifah from way back, which was interesting. His Mum probably kept him alive longer than he should have survived, but it was seriously tough love she was distributing. He died before the book was finished, so it ends where it ends. I personally thought he was an incredible presence on screen in all of his roles.

Sure it may well have been mentioned elsewhere, but We Own This City is well worth a watch, drama based on the true story of the Baltimore Gun Trace Task Force, cops who make the ones in the Wire look like saints, Pelecanos and Simon were involved in producing it.
