The Upsetter

Yet another Pressure Sounds LP of Black Ark out takes, unreleased stuff, dub plates etc.

http://www.pressure.co.uk/news/2013-10-15/lee-perry-album-roaring-lion-released-in-november/

I'm so cynical of these endless out take versions I can barely believe it, but from all accounts this one is worth a listen.

Blurb:

We have a new Lee Perry album titled 'Roaring Lion' Released on Pressure Sounds in late November. Sixteen tracks of thunderous mixing by the Upsetter at his best. Eleven of the tracks come from one master tape that has been laying on a shelf for 30 odd years. The other 5 tracks are made up of dub plates and alternate takes of previously released tracks. We know what your thinking, another Lee Perry album on Pressure Sounds. This one in our opinion is excellent and is good as any of the previous Lee Perry albums on pressure Sounds. There will also be three new Upsetter produced 45s two of which are not on the Roaring Lion album. There will also be a very limited silk screen edition of just 70 copies of the Roaring Lion album. There will also be a free Perry postcard included if you buy the album direct from Pressure Sounds.

There wasnt much on the last one, but I did like this which is properly out there - theres a nice dubbier mix on the flip as well

Its well priced and the tracks arent too bad but Im not interested enough to buy it

The one from the set I would want is a lovely dub instrumental - Augustus Pablo & The Upsetters: Pride

Also really interesting is Anthea & Donna inside a wild black ark dub
Althea and Donna: Loco Negril
thats a crazy number

Not on the LP but out on a 7 is a really nice dubbier version of Bob Marley's Mr Music
Id really like to hear the version on the flip

Heirs to the Black Ark, Salford's Breadwinners have a new 12 forthcoming - preview here
Personally would prefer if they stuck to instrumental cuts, but its all good
Black Ark lives

Is it here? http://dublp.roots-archives.com/
