I remember really liking Casino Royale. That’s going to be rewatched tomorrow.
Was a great introduction to a new and different Bond. Through a lot of the film you’re not given much reason to even like him.
I think fundamentally my issue is I don’t like the new and different Bond as much as the Moore era. I’ve probably posted as much earlier on the thread
He also needs to be at the peak of his physical health if he’s to survive more than a weekend on the field in a job that involves regular close combat fights to the death against well trained assassins and enemy agents. Let’s face it, most of the numerous henchmen Craig has had to fight over his tenure would have defeated Moore inside of twenty seconds in a proper physical fight.I enjoyed Moore’s archness more when I was a young’un but I think a Government killer needs a little darkness.
Nor the horrors of the Moore raised eyebrow.I think you underestimate the deadly effectiveness of the Roger Moore karate chop.
Despite death happening in the last one, Bond movies will go on as long as they make money.Isn’t it overdue a death anyway? It’s like trying to still be making Carry On films.
A Bond/Carry On crossover would be perfectIsn’t it overdue a death anyway? It’s like trying to still be making Carry On films.

Carrion Up The Khyber
MI6 sends a hotshot new officer into the Afghan badlands to intercept a doomsday weapon rumoured to be on its way to be detonated somewhere in the world - only for him to be captured, tortured and then abandoned in the desert for the vultures to feed on...
But this agent, whilst initially shaken is now stirred into vengeful action, and vows to track down and eliminate his tormentors wherever he finds them.
He travels the globe in pursuit: a hospital, a toilet factory, a campsite, a cruise ship, a jungle, and finally a secret government scientific facility where an experimental time portal allows him to chase the mastermind across different time zones - French Revolution, Columbus's transatlantic expedition, Tudor England - before finally catching up with him....
Let’s face it, anyone who is a fan of the franchise has been happily ignoring the not so small issue of a character who has remained roughly the same age over the last six decades. I guess we should be prepared to accept a further suspension of disbelief if he’s somehow resurrected.Despite death happening in the last one, Bond movies will go on as long as they make money.
People say that about any franchise that has hit a few bumps and in the Daniel Craig era I still thought there were two great movies, one which was ok and two that sucked. There is no reason why there still can’t be good Bond movies, I don’t expect for all of them to be great. The thing which to me is most interesting about the movies is how they reflect their times, their aspirations, their changing values and their fashion. As such I’m happy for them to go on.Reno is obviously correct but I think kabbes is right that it would be a good time to let it go now.

However, there’s a popular school of thought that the arrival of the M.I. franchise and to a lesser degree the Bourne films some time later was the kick up the arse Broccoli needed to up its own game if the Bond franchise was going to survive past the Brosman era. This is my problem. I don’t like the Bourne / Mission impossible films, in fact I don’t ever watch them. A Bond which is occupying the same space as them isn’t appealing to me.
DaveCinzano is right (stopped clocks etc ) - The era of Bond films I like the most have a lot more in common with Carry On than I realised as they’re fundamentally a bit silly and provide cheesy fun.
The recent films have been so gritty I was expecting Ken Loach to direct the next one
