The Great Suburban75 Recipe Wiki

I'm sure nobody minds, but just so that it's clear - the contents of the wiki are held under a Creative Commons license, which roughly means anyone can copy them as long as it's not for profit. This is slightly different to the copyright situation on the boards, where the copyright of the contents of the posts are owned by the poster.

Strictly speaking this means that you shouldn't post up other people's recipes. But I'm sure they don't mind (and if they do, they'd let it be known :))

Of course notes at the bottom are a good idea. See?

As I can't bring myself to edit someone else's recipe, I just added my one pan lazy rice dish instead. It's never actually appeared on Urban - hope that's not cheating or anything. I nearly posted it for herbsman a few days ago but there was already something pretty similar on the thread ...

One thing: could you make the big 'Urban75 Recipes' text at the top right a link back to the homepage?

Oh, a nd clickiong on 'Spinach and Chickpeas - (Otherwise known as Espinacas con garbanzos) - guineveretoo' gives me a 'Page not found' error.

That'd be great actually, always go to click on it, but then realise it's not a link.

Same with your recipe ymu - it's not there :( (only the title)

1. Nope. Not got that much control over the thing - it's just a google-ad supported free wiki.
2. Guineveretoo had better get on with it! (or else someone else can edit the empty page if they want)

Yeah - I altered the name so it no longer linked to anything. I've changed it back again and it's reappeared. This might be the problem with Guinevere's recipe also.

Ah, I did that to a few of mine, and just added the recipe again... so there might be a few floating around not connected to anything :D

Yes - the name of the page you're lining to has to match the name of the link exactly. You can go to the "All Pages" button to see if there are any stragglers.

OK. Just fixing Guinevere's link - waiting for whoever it is to quit editing. :p

E2A: Done. :)

ooooh!

eek, hope no-one minds that I've posted their recipes then! If anyone is planning to be the next Delia, perhaps they better remove any top-secret copywrited recipes :D

It was starting to look a bit beeboo-centric up there so I diversified!

For some reason I feel my recipes should read better than they do now that they are on an official recipe page. But I love the personality thing someone pointed out above (Sojourner I think). Tarting them up may lose it. And I am hopeless at weights and measures. I just add what looks right.

Should we make them look more professional or leave them as they are?

I rather like them as they are - if I wanted some impersonal, formally written recipes then there are loads of recipes sites out there I could look at. I agree with sojourner, it's the personallity that makes it special. :)

Ok but it still didn't work you see. Perhaps I'm just stupid OR Cripsy hates me and made it so that I can't use it :(

:D
Now, which do you think is more likely? :p

(I tried to do it again, when I click save page it just goes to the recipe index....I give up!)
That's right... your recipe name will be added... then you click on your recipe name - edit page - and put in your recipe - save again :)

edit - just checked - your recipe name isn't there... :(

I'm soooo intelligent you see

Do you mean when you save the main page after you added your recipe name? If so - was there a red warning at the top telling you that someone else was in edit mode (meaning you can't make/save changes until they get out of it)?

If you got as far as adding your recipe, is it on here?

It's the red & orange pepper and ricotta pasta and it's called "urban75_recipes" ??

I'm sorry Crispy but I find that site totally confusing and not very easy to use!

Don't know where it's gone.. but if you click on your title now (should be in red) then click edit - you can paste in your recipe and click save :)

Weren't my fault - was just the first result when I stuck "free wiki hosting" into google :)

I see where you're going wrong - you're typing into the "keywords for this content" box aren't you?

No need. You edit the whole page directly, so you just type in the main text box, where you can see all the other recipes listed as [[Shits and giggles]]

Just add [[red & orange pepper and ricotta past]] to the list and click save page. You need to do nothing more. It's like editing a post on urban.

When you see the result, red & orange pepper and ricotta past will be in the list, but the link will be red, not green. That indicates a link to an empty page. Click the red link and you now get an empty page with a new Edit Page button. Click that button and start typing your recipe. At no point should you ever have to use any buttons or boxes apart from "Edi Page", the big text box, adn "Save Page"

EDIT : I think you're getting it now :)

Your link is in there now - but it's red meaning that there's no page attached. If you're not already in the process of filling it in, just click the link and edit the page to add it.

Can't work out how it ended up in the list with a link to the main page.

I'll be cooking Crispy's baked potato for Mrs Jodal tonight...

Actually, that sounds a bit dodgy. Ignore me.

A-ha! When you edit a page there's a rename page option at the bottom - so I guess you can rename it and then edit the main page to retrieve the link.

Too late now - I did a beeboo* and made a second page and now I feel stupid 'cos they both come up on the "fish" search recommended on the main page  so everyone can see what I did.

*a misnomer for what is in fact, doing a biddly
