The dog thread is better than the cat thread, because it features dogs.

I was in two minds about posting that. I’m sorry for any upset - perhaps I should edit my post.

It certainly put me off owning a dog in an urban area or offering to dog sit for her :(

Just used the oldies hoover and it smells like old wet retriever. Really unpleasant. Their dog is a youngish pointer mongrel and not at all smelly but this is v stinky and off-putting.

What is this business with crates, I keep seeing it but it wasn't a thing when we had dogs, do you shut them in at night?

We got a terrier and when she was a pup we were worried about the cats. When we were passed that we thought we'd give it up but she didn't want to. It's her space with multiple duvets. We don't lock her in, she goes there of own accord when it's bed time

My lovely Lucy has cancer. The only way to treat it is to amputate the leg and it still may have spread.
We agreed with the vet that it’s not the right thing for an 11 year old dog.
She went for X-rays to confirm suspected arthritis.

I feel so sad. I went out tonight but had to come home.

She’s so brilliant. 41DFA88F-984F-4C25-BB30-22BA77469AB1.jpeg576682F6-463F-43DE-A6CA-8BBE96486CCC.jpeg

awww she looks lovely :(

right decision however hard it is :(
Yeah, absolutely. The surgeon wanted to operate but our vet still felt it was best not to.
She’s so sweet. She came to us because her owner said she growled at her child. 10 years and I’ve never seen the slightest show of aggression. She’s so gentle and loving and quite needy tbf. :D
We’ll keep her comfortable on painkillers but no longer than is ok for her.

I put a vacuum cleaner deodorant stick in the one we use for pet hairs. Or use some shake n vac ...

Took Ben out for a long walk yesterday afternoon, which turned out to be a real p-mail and sniff-a-thon.
We went to a Woodland Trust site that I've driven past literally hundreds of times, so it was all new to him and he had a great time.
Going to go back on a sunnier day quite soon to take pictures ... when the daffillips are out.

Thanks everyone. I was clearly a bit pissed and self indulgent last night!

I need to find a way not to cry every time she limps. I’ll sort my shit out in a couple of days I’m sure but for now I’m being a total sap. :D
She’s still all sleepy today and has a cough from the intubation but I don’t think she’s actually in pain.

My friend has recommended CBD oil for pain and she used it when her dog had cancer. Anyone tried it with pets? I’m guessing it would be in addition to her pain relief.
