the decline of tagliatele

The king of pasta shapes.

The only advantage I can see to flat pasta like spaghetti and tagliatele is you can fit more in the pan when camping.

That's the shitter type of fusilli, this is the don of them all

If you want dried egg tagliatelle, they have big boxes of it in Lidl for not much pence at all. Or you can buy fresh lasagne sheets and slice them up.

I can't sleep.

Yes the Lidl stuff is good. Apart from that you can't get dried egg tagliatelle any more, which distresses me as it's my favourite thing.

Those curly things are horrible . Just too much pointless texture.

You can in ours Ruby - yellow boxes for egg and green for the normal durum wheat. Maybe there's just me buying it till it's gone?

I like proper fusilli, but with breadcrumbs and not drenched in sauce. So there ;)

I'm so going to do this if I get pissed off about tagliatelle. Durum wheat, that's easy and cheap to obtain right? Stocked in my local shop right next to a package of the ready made stuff?
You don't need to get Durum wheat, just look for 'Italian 00 flour' which you will probably only find in large supermarkets and/or posh areas.

Or you can mail order from places like Shipton Mill Although it's only really cost effective if you order a 25kg sack. Postage is £5 on small bags.

Since Jan, when I wrote that, I've moved on a bit. Got that 00 flour in the meantime, and was making my own till I spotted a pasta machine on sale, now I've got one of those too. Cheers for the link ... there's some good flours on there, e.g. chestnut!
