The Closing Ceremony

Going back to the closing ceremony, just for a second, one thing I didn't really express properly last night was how the CC was so exclusive where the OC was inclusive. Where the OC had a cast of volunteers enacting various aspects of public life, last night had a series of celebrities and elites, paraded before us, separate from us. We were basically told "you aren't like these special people" and were supposed to passively accept, sit back and be force-fed commercial pap, rather than get involved and be part of something. Even the athletes, the actual superhumans who's efforts we'd watched and applauded for the past two weeks and who we were supposed to be celebrating were kept locked in place.

There was no consideration for the audience, any audience.

Bollocks to the lot of it.

Exactly, it's meant to be celebratory. How can the athletes party and mingle when they're kettled
 
My favourite moments were the human moments of interaction from the athletes, there were some really sweet (and daft :D) instances of them just enjoying themselves. Should have been much more of that, tbh.

I disagree entirely - yes, they were all celebrities, supermodels and music stars rather than ordinary people but they were (almost) all made to look like complete twats, like a parade of the gods of defeated peoples.

In fact, there was less of that than at any closing ceremony I've ever watched :(

Then you went back to being some kind of stream-of-consciousness shit-tap and I noted that you had gone back to normal. Then I told you to shut up and the tap stayed turned on.

That's what's been going on. The Russell Brand bit is long gone.

Can I ask you a serious question? Do you have some kind of condition or something I should know about? I won't be mean to you at all if you have. I just want to know. Do you have an autism-related illness or something of that ilk? That's a deadly serious question, not an attempt at a snide insult by the way.

If you don't have a medical reason for being like this, I may be a bit rude though.
