So who's watching the Closing Ceremony then?

.
Mr Gavin added: "There is no narrative. It's not just a concert and we're not just looking at Coldplay, we have fantastic visuals and amazing stunts going on. It is a collaboration all round."

Steve Daldry, head of Olympics ceremonies, confirmed other recording artists had wanted to be involved in the closing ceremony, but said Mr Gavin had a vision for it to "revolve around one act".

"Those requests have been turned down," he said. "We're not telling which special guests will be turning up."

Hinting at some of the show's content, Mr Gavin said it would be "less 'spangly', more raw, [with] more flame and more about the people".
He said a group of "travellers" would also be involved in "storming the stadium".

I mean, if I had to choose the closing acts - transatlantic shites Coldplay and Rihanna wouldn't have been near.

David Byrne, Isobel Campbell, Roots Manuva, Annie Lennox and a hologram of Freddie Mercury. That would have been as weird as fuck.

Coldplay and their achingly wank sub radiohead attempts to crack america, and rihanna appearing fucking everywhere on british telly. Wankers, the fucking pack of them.

I just sat and watched a fucking Coldplay concert. :( Why on Earth would they choose to focus it all around one single band - a band that even to those who like them is known for making slow, minor-keyed, melancholy music?

Ooh, the Brazil bit - forgot about that. Not bad.

Maybe the fireworks along the river at 10.45 will be more entertaining.

We should have more of jaunty Brazilian anthem instead of Coldplay

Just watched fireworks over London.

Not sure what they were for

Aren't the Thames Festival ones later?
