Shut it. Get back to your winding up Editor thread
And then got a bloke in. I know.
What kind of space cadet walks in a long, straight line, never veering off to one side or other? Does this phobia have a name? Or is it more of an OCD type thing?
Was thinking from Brixton M&S to Streatham Common's Sainsbury.
And include Acre Lane and that horrible Tesco's Metro at Streatham Place.
I reckon it'll be pretty close - with there being more market chains.
It's funny, cos when I first moved to the area (around 10 years ago), I made a joke of counting fried chicken shops.
How things have changed.
Never once even considering veering off, even ever so slightly? Did you make sure you didn't walk on any cracks in the pavement too?I've walked from Streatham to Brixton before.
Minnie, when you've finished with this thread can I recommend your next oeuvre? Price comparisons of a representative basket of popular items from these shops:
- Tesco, Iceland, Lidl, M&S, Sainsburys
- Tesco Metro and Sainsburys Local (which have higher prices than their full size cousins for some items, a con trick which needs exposing)
- assorted popular independents including Nour, the Chinese supermarket, Brixton Wholefoods, a butcher or two, a couple of greengrocers...
I would be fascinated by the results. If you need help, count me in.

I try my best to avoid Streatham entirely, there's nothing there to warrant alighting the bus whilst en route to somewhere less skanky.Have you found any side roads off Streatham worth veering off for?

Is it cheaper?
How many items in this basket?
Bit of a derail.
But do you think there's more fried chicken places than supermarkets on this stretch?
erm, don't know. Could you take a walk from Streatham to Brixton to check please.
And the fare is how much? Not to mention how difficult it is to avoid being tempted into buying the more expensive food in Waitrose. If you live in Central Brixton and lack a car, the most accessible big supermarket is arguably Waitrose is Beckenham Junction. Less that 15 mins on the train
Okay, Brixton needs a Waitrose so that I can find safe scotch eggs without the journey involving at least 2 scrums
I will. I'll fuckin' do it.
Wish they had Miss Millie in London.

What's a Miss Millie?
!!!!
She's like the best animal rights campaigner ever.
am surprised she's not in Brixton/ Streatham/ London.
And yet you (and you alone) have heard of "McEwans" lager?Never heard of her?
And yet you (and you alone) have heard of "McEwans" lager?
The mind boggles!
Not without onion they don'tSainsbury's has them, so does Tesco's and I think I've got them in M&S before.
Not without onion they don't
Usually it's in the sausagemeat bit, check the ingredients if you want. It's yet another one of those "easy" ****ing buffet/picnic foods which I can't often have unless I make it from scratch or go out of my way to buy the very rare onionless ones. Sainsburys used to do a scotch egg I could have (so did M & S, for a while), but changed the recipe a couple of years ago.
Even that handmade scotch egg place online doesn't have checkable ingredient lists, so they're out and all. Waitrose on the other hand, and the John Lewis food hall do a (very) few savoury bits which I can have... unless some genius decides to "improve" the recipe - again.
