The complexities of globalisation make revolutionary change in the advanced economies a whole order different from back in the day.

A major problem with globalisation is what flows from the periphery - the global south - to the metropoles of the world, and what goes the other way. In any sane economic system food for local consumption would be grown where now asparagus for export does in Peru, for example.
