Tell me tales of Totnes (a fortnight in March).

Salcombe is ( or was ) a pretty little place and well worth a days visit.
It has a few nice pubs and possible the best ice cream.
We dropped into a pub in Salcombe one Sunday afternoon a few years back. Everyone else there was talking loudly about how tricky the journey back to London was going to be that evening. You'll be lucky to find many actual locals there these days.

Salcombe is a very expensive area these days with lots of second homes which has destroyed the market for true locals.

All great advice except (imho) Princetown. It's odd and grim with little to recommend other than a passable Dartmoor visitor centre.
Older urbanites will recall the all-weather urban75 trip to Princetown, complete with rave-busting police intervention!

I was on that trip, but not on the photo. IIRC, I had to leave early so took a "short cut" to Princetown to get the car. The short cut turned out to be a brutal swampy slog and I only got there a short while before you all arrived.
