Storm Darragh

The local weather station in totterdown says it's died right down but it's just got noisy again...

Perhaps it's the slight change in direction

Had to do something in Exeter today and saw that the Cathedral market was shut...
900 year old cathedral is fine but tacky sheds are too risky...
I feel sorry for the small traders who can't make use of what might have been the busiest shopping day of the year.
I had a wander about too, wasn’t sure if it would be open, but thought I’d look as a colleague had recommended the mulled cider. I settled for a pint in the Phoenix instead

Some neighbours lost a few tiles last night, I live on the coast, back up the valleys today, we've had another flood alert on the Rhymney, my two local watering holes which I've proped the bar on for over 40 years off and on, one has had it, the owners throwing in the towel!IMG_20241125_102041_edit_386375461749690.jpg Won't accept any donations, he's had enough. Got flooded out 4 years ago, so no commercial insurance will touch him. He competed a part refurb just 3 weeks ago, then he took a hit again last week, so sad. I took these last Tues. I got home from a short and blustery dog walk to find the huge tree opposite my front door has blown over. Happily with the wind from that direction it landed on the field, had it blown from the south the tree would be in my bedroom. It took down the phone line from the telegraph pole to the house, OpenReach say they’ll fix it in 2-3 working days but I expect it’s only one of many broken lines.

I’m going to need a bigger chainsaw. Logs, sorted.

A good few power outages in local villages here in North Dorset. Different power companies cover the area and there are people complaining that they are not with Scottish & Southern who are providing welfare vans. :D

Not lost power here  but there are a good few trees down including an oldie. :(

I noticed actual sunshine earlier, but a it's a bit too breezy for a cycle ride ...
Though the NNE wind might be quite helpful on the way home...
