South America - Where no Urbanite has gone

What, you want stats? You're the one making sweeping statements about latino love, and for pointing out the violent streaks in latino countries I get.... bizarroworld?

Who mentioned sunchairs? And who appointed you the grand infallible judge of latino life? But by all means keep it coming.

Dude... the OP asked for a few stories of people who'd been to the countries he listed. I happened to spend a little bit of time there, so I commented.

You know how a BB works yeh?

Anyway... yeh, lizzie, you're right.. bed calls.. no beef with anyone.

I've been to them all except:

Paraguay, Chile, Surinam and the Guyanas.

Do I get a prize?
you do if you tell a brief, encapsulating anecdote about each place.
how do you find living in mexico? yeah i know that isn't south america everyone. it just occurred to me alright. it is a bit latin eh.

I've been to four.
Country - Anecdotes/Factoids

Ecuador - Their currency is the US dollar. All the buses and coaches outdo each other in outrageous displays of bling and soundsystems.
Peru - Full of ruins and history. My favorite local food is Cerviche, raw fish marinated in citrus juice and chilli.
Bolivia - In La Paz, the slums are on the hills and the rich live in the valley because the air is thicker down there. Everyone chews coca leaves (they're great).
Chile - Very westernised. You'd think you were in Spain. Valparaiso is possibly the coolest city I've ever been to but we only had three nights.

i want to see the bowler hat women lucha wrestling matches in Bolivia. i do not care if it is a tourist thing, i want to see it.

They're more outgoing and gregarious and shit (well, most are), but they are also pretty violent, macho and fucked at times.

Yes, those crazy unpredictable Latins eh? Giving out bear-hugs and yelling "Compadre" one minute, getting legless on tequila and raping your daughter the next. If their football team gives away a goal they usually run onto the pitch and shoot the ball or even the ref. And when their team scores they all shout: "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!"

What a tosser you turned out to be.

to be fair it was equally meaningless saying they "know how to love" or whatever it was.

I'll take that as compliment coming from a shitface like yourself. Get to fuck dwyer. I suppose the narco-war in Mexico's passed you by then.

I love Mexico, but it's hard to describe in general, seeing as it's so varied. I live in the north, which is regarded as a dangerous backwater by most of the country. I think it's very exciting though.

it is indeed seen like that. i was told to never go there. but yuo have no problems there? i might fancy mexico city some time for a while though.

Hardly, since I live in the middle of it. But only a racist like yourself would take it as evidence that Latin Americans are "violent and macho."

For someone with your education you don't have a particularly good level of reading comprehension.

Perhaps even "edgy" and "vibrant"? :p

one thing i think IS true about mexico is that they can't do any music without doing AY AY AYYY!!! about 3 seconds in to it.

correct me if i am wrong.

Oh I've had plenty of problems there. I've been mugged at gunpoint by the police, mugged at knifepoint by a civilian, had cash extorted by the police three times, been punched in the face over a game of pool, had my room burgled, had to chase away would-be pickpockets numerous times, walked past freshly-shot dead bodies on the street more often than is pleasant and witnessed many other minor indications that northern Mexico really is an extremely dangerous place.

i might fancy mexico city some time for a while though.

Much safer, and certainly a wonderful city. Personally I fancy Chiapas next.

Well it was a nice idea for a thread. Is there Anything people wont argue about on 'tinterweb

In columbia the police sniffer dogs in the port ride on the back of their handlers motorbikes
