South America - Where no Urbanite has gone

toblerone3

Grrrrr
I want to talk about the mainland countries of South America tonight. I've never been to any country in South America personally, but there is one South American country where nobody who is currently posting on Urban75 has visited.
But which one is it?

Argentina,
Bolivia,
Brazil,
Chile,
Colombia,
Ecuador,
French Guiana,
Guyana,
Paraguay,
Peru,
Suriname,
Uruguay,
or
Venezuela.

By visit, by the way, I mean you have to have spend at least one night there. Airport transfers don't count. ....................And also tell us a little interesting fact or story about your stay in the South American country.

We will tick them off until we find the one South American country where no one has been.

One down 12 to go.

Argentina,
Bolivia,
Brazil,
Chile,
Colombia,
Ecuador,
French Guiana,
Guyana,
Paraguay,
Peru,
Suriname,
Uruguay,
or
Venezuela.

I worked in Argentina for a few months as a bar back...

Then when i got sacked i moved over the andes to chile where i lived in a tent with a horse while i waited for my STA flight back to london to come up. which took fucking months. i went insane. i think. well, no i did.

south america is my favourite part of the world. they actually love. which is a bit weird at first after years in anglo countries.

What do you mean "they actually love". I'm also not sure what a bar back is.. You lived in a tent with a horse. Must've been quite a big tent.

What or who do they love?

They love. If you need the meaning of that, check youtube. Or get a life/passport. And get out of these miserable isles.

A bar back collects and cleans glasses. you asked for little stories.

Bizarre. So there is no love in anglo countries? Methinks you've fallen for the stories latinos tell themselves.

Just feels different in south america. honestly. people are nice. just my personal experience of south america, feel free to add your own..?

People are nice. But then again, BA's got some serious crime issues, murder rate through the roof. It's the only place I've been in S America, which is why I mention that city in particular. So there's that.

It reminds me of something JL Borges said, that Argentinians couldn't conceive of non-personal relationships. He was talking about how corruption and violence and power abuse got justified, but still. Maybe that's what you picked up on?

The OP asked for anecodtal stuff... pfft... I just felt good vibes wherever I went in south america... it freaked me out a bit at first as im a kiwi who lives in london, both of which are loveless places compared to my time in SA...

I spent a lil time in a few other countries in that region... and yeh... its true.. each to their own tho. I'd accept your personal experience of the place, if you're willin to tell it?

We spent 3-4 weeks in Argentina and had nothing but a lovely time. I've had the same in Cuba and Mexico. But as I said, just because we've had a good time doesn't mean that latinos are all lover and no bovver. They're more outgoing and gregarious and shit (well, most are), but they are also pretty violent, macho and fucked at times.

Did you have an all-inclusive wristband? To keep you away from the er 'pretty violent, macho and fucked at times' locals?

Meme

In your terms, would you say your South American experience was useful in your understanding of the continent? Considerin these gems...

Methinks you've fallen for the stories latinos tell themselves.
