Somewhere to stay that's easy to get to Stansted from

miss direct

misfungled
My flight from Manchester to Istanbul was cancelled, and I rebooked from Stansted. Flight is at 11:50am - I guess I have to be at the airport 3 hours early (?) so 8:50am. Train from Sheffield requires 3 changes, takes 4 hours, and is pricey.

I could get a coach at 1am - that takes 6 hours and I'd arrive at the airport in the morning - but have to change in London.

Don't fancy either of those, I'm too old and tired, plus will have 4 hour flight to get on, dealing with immigration and then another hour or two of travel to get to my friend's in Istanbul. Considering travelling at least half of the way on the Saturday, and staying over somewhere.

Can anyone suggest somewhere I could stay on Saturday night that has easy access to the airport and doesn't cost a zillion pounds to stay for a night?

Tottenham Hale is a shit hole so hotels are likely to be cheap there. There's a premier Inn over the road from where the Stansted express goes from.
I was going to suggest Tottenham Hale.

I may have mentioned this before, but some years ago I remember chatting to a (possibly Swedish) woman in a pub in Crouch End who genuinely thought the 41 bus went to a place called Tottenham Hole.

Happy to stay somewhere near a coach station too.
The Stansted hotels are more than I am willing to pay to be honest. I like staying in hotels but this is literally just somewhere to lie down for a few hours before an early start.

The premier inn Stansted says it is 37 quid a night. Not sure how much cheaper you could go considering it will save you more on travel than anywhere else.

It's £43 (which I'd be happy to pay) but that's a non refundable rate for the night I need. I'm wary of booking a non refundable room due to the risk of this flight being cancelled, or something going wrong with my test.

I have found somewhere called Oyo in Golders Green. May well come up as early as I can on the Saturday and enjoy London. The last time I was in London everything I wanted to go to was still closed.

Be sure to let us know what the Oyo hotels are like. They're pretty new to the UK so I've not spoken with anyone who has stayed at one. Big Indian chain hotel group I think.

Staying near or at the airport (or at least near a Stansted Express station) would be better given the relatively early flight departure time and the fact you’d be making the last leg of the journey on a Sunday morning when services begin earlier, and there is a greater risk of engineering work. I wouldn’t want to have to make two tube changes before getting on the train to STN.

Looking at August 22nd for example all trains arriving into Stansted Airport prior to 9am are most likely to be buses!
