Shrimp Tank / Aquarium

IMG_20210414_072528.jpg

Went to the aquatasist centre Monday and it was great to catch up with the other fish nerds :D

Was hoping to get some more Khuli Loaches (my favourites) and Bamboo Shrimp but sadly none in stock.

Got six Amarno Shrimp, three Mountain Minnows and fifteen Neon Tetras which made me happy. Have been sitting and staring at the tank for a lot of hours :D

Loving your work Mumbles274

I have plans for a Shrimp only tank but finances don't allow at the moment. Was given a £50 voucher for the local aquatasist shop at Christmas and plan to invest on Monday.

My four stalwart Amarno Shrimp are still going strong in the community tank which is pleasing.
Cheers Badgers. One of my amanos has eggs ss at the mo. That's in the small cube tank with just the desk lamp.. Which is doing great, plants look good and no algae!

The nano tank is getting algae, I guess to be expected. Has been set up for over 2 weeks now. Have added 2 zebra snails... Well one, the other doesn't seem to be alive so need to get it replaced. Really need to get shrimp in ASAP to tackle the algae. Plants are all doing well and I've even been able to take a couple of stems out for my main tank

There seems to be a shortage of shrimp in all the usual online retailers. I expect this is affected actual shops too. I really want crystal reds as they look amazing

I decided to put the amanos in the no filter. Algae was getting a bit much and although wasn't getting out of control after lowering the light period it was looking meh. I decided buying good quality Crystal reds could be expensive if they didn't do well so chucked the amanos in. Almost overnight they have cleared loads of the algae on the stem plants and are going to work on the shorter plants.

That leaves my other nano with just 3 guppies in. Undecided about stock for this. I have got an aquarium specific light for it now though so plants should be doing better. The cats are loving their water bowl!!

Got some moss for the big tank and superglued it onto the bog wood. The tank is filling out now. At some point in the Near future I'm going to strip it right down and rescape it. For now the plants growing out is perfect ready for that. It's going to be an amazon tank, well, it is now. Got a pair of panda Cory's and Julii Cory's, and a pair of angel fish that are still being shy today.

I redid the bedroom tank yesterday as I wasnt happy with it. Grabbed a handful of slate shingle from someone's garden ( sorry lamb1979 :D), some other stones from a crap attempt to repair a pot hole out the back of mine and some other random gravel. Glued some of the Same moss to a few of the stones. Added 4 Amano shrimp to keep on top of algae. Hopefully will be getting donated some guppies to increase the fish stock soon

Excellent work Mumbles274 Really decent and healthy looking environments for them.

I have a small tank with one male guppy hanging in there which is scheduled to be converted to a shrimp wonderland.

The big corner tank is doing well. I restocked on Neon Tetras, Mountain Minnows and a few more little Amarno Shrimp. The latter have taken up living in the heater/filter  but seem to be thriving.

Haven't updated about any of the tanks for ages. This is the nano no filter. Plants are doing great on the whole. No algae, water is always clear. The Shrimp are loving life although often hard to spot. Such a cool little tank. Just a light and a heater, it's own little biosphere (if that's the right word)

I hope I can get away with an OT post in this thread, as there are no shrimp in this particular tank… I’ve been asked to fish-sit the neighbours’ fishies while they’re away for two weeks. I‘ve only ever had a goldfish as a kid, so know nothing about what I’m looking at, but they are very entertaining to watch when they get super animated hoovering up the food.

Edit:

ps.. this thread could use more fishy/shrimpy videos. Keep them brief so they’re small file sizes then use the attach video button as below.

I've redone my no filter nano tank. Basically I've put a big rock from the garden in it, with some dirt and left the moss that was growing on it. it's a see what happens kind of thing. A few simple aquatic plants like java fern and java moss, that's it really, no fish or shrimp yet

I've inherited this from my daughter while she's busy a lot and also to see if I can get it running a bit better. Came with a few fish including a pair of bristlenoses and some tetras 👍👍

Just set up so still not clearedDSC_1007.JPG

Have you seen Leon the lobster on YouTube? There’s three videos so far. This is the first.

I've fallen in love with Leon and Brady ❤️
Our Makro used to have a tank of them and I couldn't look at them, I wanted to let them loose, they looked so sad :(
Thank God they don't do anything live anymore!

I think there's a new video out, making four.
