They are in general very good, only really two improvements: you can't edit into them unless you have a subscription to adobe (did try some free software can't remember how they were though), and if you c&p two-column text the lines from the two columns are interspersed.

PDFs are actually terrible for websites as they not accessible for so many people. Better to publish pamphlets and the like as html pages on your site and just have PDFs for emailing purposes.
