Should AI copy and paste responses be banned from political discussions here?

You’ll learn nothing by posting your own opinions. Reading, reviewing and posting clear, concise informative articiallly created thoughts of an amalgamation of learned experiences help us all learn and do better

This is bollocks though.

We learn (mostly) not from posting our own opinions, but from reading other posters' opinions, particular their response to our posts

It might be a digital species but until it adopts biology, it's not a new species.

But I truly don't understand why you're still posting here if all you want to read is pages of unchecked AI computer generated content, devoid of personality, humanity, humour and character.
I really don't understand why they're still posting here at all and I'm not saying this to have a go at you and the other mods, but I think you should know that they're a fairly large part of the reason I'm planning to leave as soon as I've got round to saving all the stuff I want to keep from old PM convos

Sorry to hear that. Can you not just put them on ignore though?

It would be a real shame to see you leave, but I don't quite understand your reasoning seeing as we're about to adopt a policy of banning copy and paste AI content*

*if the mods are agreeable

It's mostly the constant barrage of irrelevant links posted without comment (the ancient thread they bump still show up in "new posts" even with them on ignore), plus all the threads that become totally unreadable without clicking "show ignored content" because so many people are replying to their drivel.

And a few other things too but I didn't want to get into that really, sorry - only mentioned it here because it kind of came up and I'm finding it especially annoying today for some reason.

FYI: I'm considering adding this to the FAQ:

AI content: It is forbidden to copy and paste swathes of AI content in response to posts here. Interacting with a long list of computer generated paragraphs strays far from what this board was set up to do, and it's also incredibly lazy (and often runs the risk of being wildly inaccurate too).

And I'll also be reminding posters of this long standing rule

Posts containing nothing more than links to websites or video files are not permitted. Please explain the nature and relevance of the linked content as a courtesy to users. Do not post up huge reams of cut and paste text, but make things easier for others by summarising the article and including a link to the unabridged version.

And ai is the antithesis of this. It doesn’t think. It just regurgitates shit from the internet. It has no soul or humanity.

i'm very sorry to hear that, i always enjoy reading your posts and hope that you'll reconsider leaving

Here's the kind of amazing AI content that was produced by the biggest tech company in the world:

n December, Apple Intelligence wrote a headline for a BBC story about Luigi Mangione, the accused killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, claiming Mangione had shot himself. That detail was entirely invented by the algorithm. The broadcaster wasn't thrilled about being blamed for something it didn’t write.

Similarly, a New York Times story did not claim Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was arrested, regardless of Apple's AI headline.
