Alfie.

Someone else's much better photographs than mine.

Papillon
So do I, in a big way. (And most staffies I've met have the kindest, smiliest faces!)

Okay, does anyone have experience of Papillons and Phalenes?
Papillons are meant to be some of the healthiest pedigrees. Not much experience of them but the ones I've met have been lovely :)

Our old girl has had an op to remove a few lumps, mainly the one on her head that was starting to look a bit pus filled and nasty.
She's 14 so we were a bit worried about putting her through a general anaesthetic but she seems to have sailed though it with no problems and is recovering nicely :)

Cheers ddraig, she's deaf and her sight is going, she's lost her reverse function (when she tries to go backwards she ends up sitting down) and her pre-op blood test showed something amiss with her liver function, but there's definitely still life in the old dog yet.

Yes, very old breed. Supposed to be good at obedience and agility training. Compact. Not terribly common and have small litters, so might not be that easy to find. Dithering a bit . . .

(((BoatieBird and doggy)))

friend of mine had a black lab (sort of) who reached quite an advanced age a few years back. we did on one occasion get to the concept stage of designing a few mobility aids for elderly / infirm doggies, since friend is quite small and could not manage carrying doggy up the stairs when she (doggy that is) could no longer manage them...

We've joked about installing a stair lift for her, she's 30kg so quite a weight.
She has no problem with stairs at the moment, but I can see that it might be an issue in the future.
Most of her life has been spent on a boat so our bed has always been her safe place, no one can stand on her there!
She gets quite distressed if she can't get to our bed :(

Oh, that lovely big we nose! I hope she recovers well and fast and has a happy and long stretch as a senior citizen.

Ok wise urbanz . . . let's say you got a 16 month old intact male dog and had it neutered. Is it more risky than neutering as a pup? Will neutering make much difference to its temperment? Is it still going to hump everything it sees?

Asking for a friend . . .

(Lying about that. Just have never had 1) a male dog 2) one not neutered as a pup.)
