Seattle stopover ideas please.

1927

Funnier than he thinks he is.
Air France have just advised me my flight home from SFO has been changed. I now have from 1130 til 7pm in Seattle airport with a 7 year old.

Is that enough time to get into the city and do sightseeing?

Advice and suggestions gratefully received.

Will be on 1st September in case that makes a difference.

Is that six hours? Does that include boarding and check in times?

If memory serves sea tac is about a hours drive from downtown Seattle so you'd have maybe three hours.

I'd do the pioneer sq underground tour

undergroundtour.com

Seattle was a frontier town during the gold rushes and built unstably on mud. Gradually the early city fell into the swamp where it is still remarkably well preserved to this day.

You go underneath pioneer sq in the oldest part of the city and are shown around entire building that were swallowed by the swamp.

Reasonably close to city center and if I was going to do one thing with a kid in Seattle I'd do that.

I wouldn't bother with the needle it's a bit meh. Pike place is fun but maybe boring for a kid

I would second the underground tour (did it quite a few years ago!) and the Pioneer Square area round it is nice to walk about.

Well due to the power of social media I no longer have time to kill in Seattle, in fact I am not going to Seattle at all.

I tweeted the problem yesterday and within 20 minutes Air France had been in touch and rebooked me a direct flight with Virgin instead!

Bloody brilliant.

Pity there's this amazingly good hot wing place near the dome.

Finding Twitter is the best way of getting anything done with a company.
