Not much left, but *jesus* the Kiwis are *slaughtering* the competition in the heavyweight pair!

Looks like WELL over a length clear of the field!

I approved of the audience member holding up a sign to Grainger signed 'love tickle monster.'

Artichoke and I have been trying to pin down his precise identity for a couple of years now. Good to be able to put a face to the name.

If that grandstand had a roof, it would be about to be blown off.
One of the commentators used *exactly* that line during Wiggins' post-Gold cycle-around :D

e2a: think I know 2 or 3 people who're there! One of whom signed up to twitter specifically because of this!

btw, I *love* the trail of bikes pelting down the towpath :D

I never realised those were *still* around at Olympic level :D

Like, what can the coaches seriously do? Bellow over the noise of the crowd? :D

Grainger's dad looks as if he is about to burst into various forms of tears, cannot say I blame him.

I feel like that listening to Garry Herbert

When Pinsent was explaining who they were he said "they think it makes a difference - it doesn't" :D
We had a fuckshite bullying fuckpiece do a tonne of coaching for our 2nd men's college boat. A 2nd men's college boat really isn't a particularly glorious entity, but Henry - a red-faced sexagenarian - would get the train up after shouting at subordinates in the City, and bellow his fucking balls off at us, abusing us left, right and centre with a coaching style that might be best described as 'neolithic testosterone-fuelled bullying.' He - clearly - had never grown up, and never moved on, after leaving college. And I'd guess he treated his workforce (and probably his wife) the same as he treated us.

When we 'bumped' in May bumps, the fucking fuckpiece was so apoplectic with joy and spittle-flecked celebrations that the blazing dicktwat cycled straight into the river.

That made a difference to our enjoyment. If not our performance :D

Is the number of cyclists growing? The commentator has just described it as a peloton, and he is not wrong.

Looks like it. I wonder how many can be accredited per sculler?

[aside] Mahe Drysdale was apparently refused entry to my college a year or three ago, on academic grounds (didn't have the grades). Which was apparently quite a surprise to the college's master, who hadn't realised the college might have academic criteria for Maher Drysdale. (Apparently represented a minor victory for the applications team, too, who were horrified at admitting someone 'just because they're good at rowing' :D) [/aside]

That excitable rowing commentator cracks me up every time. He's going to damage himself one of these days.
