Romania vs France

To me it looked as if the French just weren't interested. Like Mark Bright said, it was very similar to watching any of England's opening games at recent tournaments.

I wouldn't be surprised if a few of those Romanian players have alerted the interest of Prem managers. I could see Daniel Marescu, Banel Nicolita, Radoi or Rats improving most Prem teams.

France were fucking awful. Romania just stuck bodies behind the ball, yet Domanech didn't have the imagination to break them down. It was just two banks of four against similar, France played with no pace and not enough energy to force mistakes, and without Henry they lacked any attacking leadership. Benzema and Anelka have never played together and it showed, and Malouda is a fraud, plain and simple. It was only when Nasri came on that they showed any kind of imagination or movement. Italy weren't great against the Dutch but on this evidence they'll still turn over the French.

After what my Arsenal supporting brother told me about the abject and lackustre display from France (Le Bleus) vs Romania who deserved a draw for their effort. The whole team needs a kick up Le Derreires, especially with the two big and must win matches to come against the Nederlands on Friday evening and of course the Italians (Lo Azzuri).

I quite astounded by Raymond Domench's selection for this important match - in terms of getting a win in this tight group e.g. Eric Abidal instead of Patrice Evra and Samir Nasri on the bench. France better hope that Terence Henry is 100% fit to provide some inspiration in their attacking play. Red O said a pertinent point that France lacked a leader on the pitch to inspire the players

It was Mark Bright that said whilst i watched the last 20 mins of this turgid match he understood what Romania were doing with their two holding players in front of their defence. But Domenech used two defensive midfielders in his formation instead of using one to encourage the left & right back to bomb foward. Thus as Diamond said played right into the hands of the Eastern Europeans.

The attitude of the French players and Domenech seems to me that they are taking a huge gamble on winning those two matches to advance to the quarter-finals. So Friday's matches will be very interesting, the Romanian's look a well drilled and skilled team and they won't make it easy for either for the Italians or the Dutch.

Silly idea to play with two defesnive mids, should have dropped toulaman and started with nasri as well.

Wasn't impressed with the tactics and wasn't impressed with the incredible sulk in the slightest. Benzema ran about a bit and was trying but couldnt find enough space.

Ribery came closest to having a good game i reckon but it was dire.
