Rinse FM

DJWrongspeed

radio eros
Let's have a big up for this mighty station. Continuing on FM despite adversity.

I thought they'd gone off radio for ages but then suddenly realised they were back, just to the right of Kiss FM (for all u ldners), more eclectic now than i remember but still the most happening station.

As with all music, unless there is a medium it ceases to exist.

RESPECT ;)

rinse fm = big. been going for years. too much funky on at the moment for me but still the best pirate about

by a long way. even starting to convert me to a bit of funky! The Alexander Nut show on a Saturday afternoon (i think thats when) is one of the best shows on the radio full stop.

for me Unknown FM is probably in second place...Vibes FM in third...

Whatever happened to Kool - it really has got shit - broadcast in mono, mcs outnumber djs -just a lack of proffessionalism about the whole thing -tragic really

-you can here it online too:

long live the pirates!

Indeed!

One of the things I love about London is the Pirate stations, I don't listen to anything else now :)

I'm not familiar with Rinse - will have to check if it's receivable in my area.
I'm a fan of Unknown too and Housefm (didn't seem to be on this weekend for some reason?) have been having some good shows of late - more tech-sort of stuff. I like the Colin Dale/ Steve Strawberry show that's on sometimes.

Aha house lovers!

Anyone know what that tune is featuring Jill Scott, and not Living like Golden or whatever that title is.....? I love it, but havent searched it yet; you guys might know it off the tops of yer heads?

On topic, I was introduced to Never Seen Us Coming this weekend and their dnb downloads were very nice. (nsuc.fm?)

im nowhere near london, im a country boy so never had the luxury of pirate radio stations,

ive got some rinsefm dubstep podcasts on the listen. not to shabby

Big on road, get me.

Or something like that... Without listening to them in 2003/4/5 I'd have never got into grime or dubstep

keep an ear out for a new london pirate fm station coming soon (when persitant technical difficulties get sorted)- being set up by squatters and will be providing a platform for many an interesting thing

I think the organisers didn't quite take into account how cut-throat the world of london pirates can get so it didn't work out (i.e. they got too many transmitters robbed by other crews)

Just hearing in the last few mins that Rinse have been awarded some sort of FM license....

http://rinse.fm/

wow its always great to hear of pirates getting licences!

Lets hope they don't become crap like the other ex pirates! (I'm not holding my breath tho, Commercial radio is about money not music!)

Totally agree kool as gone to shit! its all about origin 95.1 and rude 88.2 nowadays!

I remember the pirate explosion in London around '94 to '98. I lost count of the number of tapes I used to record them all :D

I properly got into dance music listening to Colins Dale & Faver on Kiss, just about able to pick it up at home in Essex. I used to listen to the shows, note down the names/labels of tunes, then head off to a little stall on Witham market and give the guys a list :D

I had a bit of grit in my eye listening to the last ever Outer Limits show after EMAP turned it into the kiddie playground it is now.

It was partly the reason I left Kiss - I was working for the ad sales team at the time.

Now, and this is really stretching it, the tunes I remember from the first Faver show were Machine Gun by Cybersonik and We Are Ie...

I remember being blown away by We Are I.E. when I first heard it... was down the record shops every weekend asking about it until it finally appeared! :D

Since moving back to croydon Iv been listening to rinse in the mornings in the car on the way to work ( 6 / 6.30am ish) seems like they are repeating shows from previous nights but i like a lot of it. I hope it dont go all shitty and commercial now im just starting to listen to it!

Well they've been awarded a Community FM license which is gold dust in London so must have been an excellent application. It can only ever have half it's income from commerical sources so I doubt it's content will change. The new license details are here - Ofcom
