Does anyone have any suggestions for software to remove noise from a vinyl rips. I have some WAV files and it's not just a few crackles it sounds like lots of static.

I've tried audacity but for the noise reduction effect it wants a sample of just the noise alone, and then it will subtract that from the rest of the track. The problem with this vinyl rip is that the amount of noise seems directly proportional to the sound level on the music, so I cant really do that.
