Perhaps somewhat confusingly, the Oxford University style guide eschews the Oxford comma, and recommends it only be used where needed to avoid ambiguity and prevent confusion. However the OUP style manual, New Hart's Rules, promotes it (hence the name).In a list, the and gets a comma before it. It’s what I was taught, so it’s what I do. But other styles are possible.
(Oxford, Cambridge, Stirling, and Napier are Universities).
