This crap about getting a new manager is getting intolerable!

I think the Trappatoni thing was simply speculation but I personally don't believe that Levy and co. have a CLUE whom to get!

Ars*nal and Chelsea are LIGHT YEARS ahead of us, both on and off the pitch (and shit we have a bigger fanbase that the latter!!!!).

Pissed off Spurs fan?! I didn't know there was any other kind of Spurs fan.

I agree, I don't think that the Tottenham board know who to get either.
You're not in the same ballpark as Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. And I doubt you will be for a long long time. Like decades.

Yeah, I don't think they have a clue either... they must be utterly inept...

they've written off an entire season in order to get the right man but it really seems they're no closer than they were after hoddle went.

errr chelsea have the biggest forign fan base then anyone other then mau td i belive.

where as no one outside of london and its catchment area remotely like spurs.

Kained, why do you have to insist on all this Spurs-bashing?

This poor damaged soul is pouring his heart out in public, don't make it any worse for him.

but but he supports spurs the man is surely used to it.

anyway im quite clearly projecting ther hammers inadequecies onto toher teams and spurs are the easiest target.

and also hes wrong spurs dont have that big a fan base. I would have taken the piss if it had been villa or charlton or any other medium sized club.

charlton aren't a medium sized club, probably smaller than a lot of 1st division teams.. I've never met a charlton fan, and I'm not entirely sure they really exist ;)

fair point chris i stand corrected.

i was trying to think of a not so good london club who were about the same size as spurs and for some reason didnt think of the word fulham.

dave

isn't it also that Spurs still (they think) have a whiff of 'big club' about them that charlton/fulham have never had?

Don't worry, it's only, er, 7 years till you win the cup again and get dumped out of Europe in yr first match. :D

(if yr projecting hammers pain, go right ahead, but it's minor league (ha), speaking as a Leeds fan. ugh)

all this stuff about spurs being lucky when the year ends in a 1 is bollox. it's wicked to mock the afflicted with it. :p

which is a nice way of illustrating why so few people not from london like tottenham; i recall the bleating prior to the 1994-5 FA Cup semi finals about the so-called "dream final" between spurs and man utd, and the moaning after the 4-1 everton win at elland road.

chelsea can, based on the current "has only happened before when someone has hacked championship manager" state of affairs, can lay some claim to being a "big club"; the likes of us and aston villa can do so by pointing to a long and glorious history; as can the more successful arsenal and man utd - but how exactly can tottenham (or newcastle for that matter - the 1990s was one of the worst decades ever for everton and yet we still won more than them) make any case? aside from being a club in a city of seven million people?

Why do soo many people hate spurs?? FFS

I am preparing myself for relegation allthough i pray that it'll never be.

I had a dream this morning that I glassed a chelsea player in the back of the head :D [/completly off topic]

Spurs are going down...

Look at the team selection for the man city game... bonkers

I don't think a club has ever been so thoroughly sabotaged from within...

It's mind boggling... we seemed to have put some distance between us the the 14 non-entities in the prem and then they go and do this...

Worst club in the world... no question... sixth best in the prem? probably (if you discount leeds)... worst in the world? certainly...

It not good enough to get relegated... we should just fold now...

on the other hand I'm not confident that our players would get taken up by other clubs...

So maybe we should continue to exist as a rest home for awful players... we should sign thomas brolin...

Defoe equalises... why are they delaying the inevitable?

Once when I played sunday football there was this highly strung dad and his son wasn't being picked... so when he came on as a sub his dad started yelling at him, "Just give up! Quit! Quit!"

they need some of that at tottenham

why do so few people like spurs might be a better question.

i remember getting a free lift off a gooner cabbie to highbury for a match and he told me how, in '71 when we won the league, his dad got him and his brothers to piss on the steps at white hart lane.

the last decent thing spurs did was share their ground with arsenal in the war.

Hear hear.

Time for the Emmanuel Petit story again, I think. In 1997, he was being courted by both Arsenal and Spurs, so he came over to meet the chairmen and see the contract offers and what have you.

So he arrives and toddles over to White Hart Lane, meets Alan Sugar and Christian Gross, has a look around, smiles a bit, and then Spurs, because they're nice, decide to pay his taxi back to his hotel.

Manu has other ideas and uses the taxi to go to Highbury and sign for the Arsenal.

So why did chelsea only get 20,000 gates before Hoddle went there??! Face it, Arsenal and Tottenham have always had the biggest gates of ALL the London clubs!

Foreign fan base? Bigger than Celtic or Rangers?? ;)

I know. I should be sorry, but... :p

And yr safe, as far as the league goes.

I dunno, with Spurs the 'big club' thing is past glories, innit? The 'Ossie' period being the last time you had any real claim to greatness...

do you mean as a manager or as a player...?

well, Klinsmann, Sheringham, Barmby, anderton and dumitrescu sound pretty great to me...

player. The klinsmann and co lot were a good team, but didn't transalate it into sustained success/domination they didn't fulfill their fantastic potential, IMO...

The 94/95 team was the best contemporary Tottenham side.

It broke up (IMO) 'cos Sugar lacked the ambition to build on it!

heh, remember that Spurs won the Double BEFORE Arsenal and Man U did (shit, Man U's first double was in 1994). And our double team is probably one of the best football sides in the history of English football. Arsenal's first double side was boring! ;)

Didn't stop us from winning the title at the Lane, did it?

Did you know it's still mathematically possible for us to do that again this year?

spurs are wobbling at the mo, they still need about 6 points to be safe, which coicidentally is probably what the arse now need to win the thing.... :D

hendrie scores about once a season....great timing from the little fellah today... :D

Heh, you'll probably beat us!! :)

Though last time you played at our ground, we wiped the floor with you in the opening 20-30 minutes!

...and everywhere else!
and did somebody hark back to the double a few posts back? what a bleedin' surprise-it was only 43 years ago!
