Oysters?

I now consider myself to be a rather well educated oyster person.

Did you know that many oysters sold as French oysters only actually spend the last 8 months of their lives in France?

They are shipped from Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Most oysters are 4 years old by the time they reach your plate. However, French oysters have the best reputation and the last 8 months of development are the most important taste wise. So, the French buy from other places to 'finish' in French Atlantic waters (considered to be the best) and sell on as French oysters.

Usually, 300+ oysters are 'reared' in a single square Meter of Atlantic oyster pens. Each oyster consumes 300 Litres of sea water a day. The most expensive oysters are penned just 5 to a Square Meter. These are the ultimate delicacy oysters.

Thanks to my mate Robbert (from the link posted earlier) for all this knowledge.

Robbert also points out that a piece of beef on your plate takes possibly 5 years from birth, so oysters (which are the only sea food to contain a good source of vitamin c) are actually quite economical.

It's your first time. People often aren't all that keen on sex the first time, either.
hhhmmm no...i was pretty keen on sex before the first time, during the first time and pretty much since :D. But i will try the oyster again. I love them cooked but its the raw thing is just really weird! Mind you i didn't like smoked salmon first time i tried it. I won't be shifted on brussell sprouts though (devil's bogies).

What's the restaurant in the Waterfront Station? Rogue, that's it. They have a Brussels sprouts dish that isn't bad: and I'm an inveterate hater of the sprouts.

No chance on the brussells old chap. And to be fair i do eat 3 every year at Xmas. I tried doing them with chestnuts and bacon lardons with a dash of balsamic once. Just sprouts trying to disguise themselves. Also...pickles on burgers. How the hell did that happen?
