Oxford Street to be pedestrianised by 2020

:weed:

If they're going to allow bikes/e-bikes etc then build a segregated lane for them.. none of this mixed use bollocks.. doesn't work.

I can think of several bad examples of pedestrianised city centres... Bristol/Nottingham.

A hydro-hover-mono-tube.

Part hydrofoil, part hovercraft, part monorail, part tube train, this versatile vehicle is the answer to all metropolitan public transport demands.

Interesting video here. Khan is in NYC and drawing comparisons with the pedestrianisation of Times Square and the proposed pedestrianisation of Oxford Street.

I don't think its quite a like-for-like example but the point is valid. Returning streets to pedestrians is an important step to regeneration.
