Osama bin Laden killed by US forces in Pakistan

But we should be cautious. There have been Arab Springs before, and each time they have been sabotaged by the Western powers. In 1953 Britain and the US, terrified that the Iranian prime minister, Mohammed Mosaddegh, was about to nationalise his country’s oil fields, engineered the military coup that installed the Shah, an intervention that led to the revolution of 1979. In 1991, we refused to accept the result of the Algerian elections, plunging the country into a decade of civil war.

And this is in the Telegraph? WTF?

Saw some US media claiming this shows the benefits of water-boarding.

There is an ongoing narrative emerging here that claims the OB killing justifies the entire ten years of extra legal activity. The disregard for international law, disregard for geneva conventions, abuse of human rights, abuse of constitutional legality and the ignoring of judicial due process that has occurred on lots of levels. Torture is justified, detention without trial is justified, drone attacks leading to mass civilian casualties is justified, abuse of internal civil rights is justified, rendition is justified. And now of course, violation of national sovereignty and assassination by hit squad is justified. this is why questions should be raised about the circumstances of Bin Laden's killing because the blatant disregard for human rights the rule of law that has characterised the last ten years has seeped into the body politic of the US itself like a poisonous corrosive and such practices are set to become the norm.

So, Al-Qaeda has confirmed the US statement that Bin Laden has been killed.

Where does this leave the Conspiracy Looney Bins?

Fucked, I would say. :D

I imagine that the looney-tunes will no doubt argue that AlQ is a wholly owned subsidiary of CIA and that this statement is only to be expected. We're through the looking glass here people. They will say, also.

Aren't the loons already claiming he's been dead for ages, or somesuch shit.

Yep, they have been claiming that for fucking years, although some have switched position this week to claiming he's still alive.

Now Al-Qaeda is claiming he's just been killed rather pisses on both their parties somewhat.

Leaves em where they always been...

Aye, far out in the Jazzzosphere Twatosphere.

On the grassy knoll, with Elvis and Shergar.

Not so American government have paid a massive stack of money to Al-Qaeda and Bin Laden to stay hidden and not to make any more videos. Bin Laden will get freedom and will no longer be hunted.
