David Bowie - Diamond Dogs (the title track is verry mmmm cocaine and fascism)
then replaying Sweet Thing/Candidate/sweet thing reprise
followed by the the last four 1984 influanced songs
and sticking Big Brother/chant of the ever encircling skeletal family and Sweet Thing/Candidate/sweet thing reprise onto repeat

those songs are perfect

Big Brother/chant... sounds exactly like the fluffy warmth of somebody practically labotimised into loving Big Brother decarling their love & semi-religious/represed sexual furvour for him and their want/need to be controlled followed by the ritulistic chanting of his name.

whole chunks of John Peel - right time wrong Speed (mostly disc 2)
Red Guitars - Good Technology got a lot of plays (so did Gang Of Four - Damaged Goods)
I am in love with that song (re)discovered it thanks to whoever posted it in the lyrics thread - saw the lyrics, reconised them convinced I'd read about it somewhere else, needed to hear trhat song, searched to see who it was, found a blog that is so right about it http://dustonthestylus.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
was just about to download it then realised a) I'd heard the song & b) it's on the cd I bought yesterday

and c) the bueaty of the music plus some of the lines esp. "we've got computers that can fiend us friends" triggers a totally inapropiate blissed out swaying and grin of the newly brainwashed via ect.

They do start of with a load of warped counting to 12, and then continues with more warped stuff for 26 minutes or so, never at any point letting up in the pumelling it gives your ears. At the end it has some bizarre shit about "doggy-doggy-doggy-....". I like it a lot and will be buying more VS stuff when I find it at a decent price. I've been told the "Songs For My Cat" album is the best.

That's the puppy :D

ha ha. i just came on here to write that i listened to that on the tube this morning + four tracks of andrew bird & the mysterious production of eggs.

he's very, very cool. look forward to seeing him tomorrow! :)

:) I much prefer '... production of eggs' (and 'armchair apocrypha') to 'weather systems'. It's not that it's bad just that on his later releases the songs feel more fully formed and varied

nick cave and the bad seeds - the good son
strangelove - hopeful (again)
red guitars - good technology (again)

Taylor Deupree: Northern
Mokira: The Bum That Will Bring Us Together
Midaircondo: Shopping For Images

Also random tracks from Mole Harness and Tigrics, want to hear more from these...

Just arrived in the post ...

animal collective - feels (downloaded it and liked it so much I bought it. So there oh distrusting music industry of ours!)
cougar - law (saw them live a few weeks ago and was mightily impressed with their intertwining guitar work and syncopated drums)

... my afternoon's entertainment is sorted

Rage Against The Machine - Ghost Of Tom Joad & Maggies Farm
Music Relief 94 - What's Going On ep (not quite all star cast Rwanda awareness Africa charity band aid style song thing )

Seven Ark: Noise of the New

Bill Laswell/Jah Wobble: Radioaxiom – A Dub Transmission

Deadbeat: Preliminary Findings

Caribou: Marino

Drop the Lime/Machine Drum: If Yu Know Your Cockie Bruck Dung

Mitchell Akiyama: Small Explosions That Are Yours To Keep
