I had much the same reaction on first few listens too!

I let it grow on me, in the background and on headphones at work. I'm getting well into it now. Occasionally tempted to skip a few tracks, though.

My head wasn't in the the right space to listen to this until recently -- I've not wanted to read anything but glossy magazines either. Maybe I should pick up that copy of Finnegan's Wake again.
