The reason for it, I suspect, is that the older generation is still an economic powerhouse. And they want to watch films with actors of their own generation that they recognise, showing those young whippersnappers what for. And those aging actors will happily take the money to run around kicking ass like they're still in their prime.

I notice there seems to a growing genre of old blokes on a vigilante trip films which feel like retirement home versions of Get Carter/Point Blank lone crim flicks!
They're quite fun, if not slighty morally iffy!!!!!
BTW. is it just my computer or is only one image visible. It's difficult to talk about a trend with just one film.

Clint Eastwood has made some great films as an actor and a director, those ones about Iwo Jima were amazing war films, Gran Torino was decent, older ones like Unforgiven, Heartbreak Ridge and Josey Wales are also great
As an actor he made was Dirty Harry and Man with No Name who are both icons. He's done quite a lot of good roles over the years. He's made a lot of dross as well but anyone whose made about 100 films in Hollywood will have made some rubbish.

Nope, just him as a person.
In fact I said I was saddened that his wankeryness has tarnished one of my favorite films. The film hasn't changed but it can be hard to imagine the lead as a cool guy when he is a total cock in real life.

Mystic River is a pile of shit.
There is a bit in the first film where you have a bunch of terrified American soldiers including one of the principals trapped in a shootout and you think that they are going to die and then a guy with a rocket launcher turns up and saves their lives, well done, but then in the Japanese one you have the same shootout with terrified Japanese soldiers including one of the principals and you think that they are going to die and they are hit by the rocket.
I don't know if Clint invented that or stole it but it's an amazing touch
