I wish people would actually read what I post rather than imagine things I didn't say.
I didn't suggest we smashed the liberals, I merely pointed out we made a net gain of seats from them. But was there a single political commentator who predicted this? No. On the contrary, it was widely predicted that the liberals would make large gains at our expense and there was much chattering about the liberals decapitation strategy which, with the sole exception of the awful Tim Collins, succeeded in significantly increasing the tory majorities in the targeted seats.
QUOTE]
The Liberals should have done better at the last election. The trouble with them is they try to attract Tories in the Country areas and liberal minded progressives in the Cities.
For what its worth I thought Howard ran an interesting campaign.I thought the "are you thinking what we thinking" adverts had a sense of humour. It looked like at some points there was going to be some real debate in the election.Something which Bliar didnt want.He just wanted us to "move on" and realise all that the government had done for public services etc.He of course stopped "listening" once he had won.Cunt.
For NuLabour to say the Tories ran a nasty campaign is beyond belief. The Labour party took us to war with Bush, detained people without trial in Belmarsh etc.How they could say that Howard was nastier than them in practise I cant understand.
And Im saying this as someones to the left of NuLabour.
