Can't find a thread on this - pauses, looks around - so, list up your events for the good day. Such as:

Middlesbrough has the launch of a Unite Community Branch on Mayday proper, Thursday 1st May at 12.30 p.m. - Unite Offices, Fry Street Middlesbrough, TS1 1HA. Buffet and discussions on creating the branch.

There's also a Teesside Solidarity Movement night of films, speakers and discussions at 7 p.m. on the same day. Free buffet and wine. That's at the St Mary's Centre, 82-90 Corporation Road Middlesbrough

TSM is at https://www.facebook.com/TeessideSolidarityMovement

By the by TSM and Northeast Antifascists are also hosting the Ital Guidance Soundsystem this Friday the 25th April https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008140926271&fref=ts]

I'd hoped to go home for the weekend, it is a four day weekend here, but I've been told that I have to go to a meeting on May 1st, in the afternoon. I've said no, but am waiting for a response. It is not unknown for the company to insist. I know I'll still get home for a long weekend, but it means I'll be sitting around all day for this meeting before being able to drive home. The whole day will be wasted, so don't you come here being cheerful.

It will be kicking off in Istanbul. 40,000 police on duty, huge protests planned, which have been banned but will still be taking place, leading to tear gas, sound bombs and plastic bullets.

Salford/Manchester May Day march: Bexley Sq, Salford 12:00 > Cathedral Gardens, Manchester 14:00 on the 5th of May

In Dumfries, the local trades council, bless 'em, have organized a 'Mayday Cabaret' but it isn't actually on Mayday (but the day after).

Good line up with Ian Saville (Socialist conjuror - no really, he's pretty good) and comedians Susan Morrison (whose reasonably well known in Scotland)and Eleanor Morton and folk singer Rab Noakes.

Its on at the Locharbriggs Social Club, which I'm sure is well known to all Urban 75 hipsters.
