Absolutely loving this DJ Kane/MC Det on Kool with the K from Oct 93 I stumbled on earlier  (@ska invita)
love it - pure kool in session atmosphere  tapes got everything, too much compression, nice little airwaves distortion, a shout to danny from plaistow, eastman stopping the set over some stolen rave tickets :D great selection....even got a bit of remedy :D remedys mad out of time mcing = kool fm more than anything else for me
i think i heard that around this time the studio was in remedys flat, which is why he was on the mic so often

Skeleton Krew / Make Em Hardcore is a pure kool fm anthem too - never heard that dubplate mix kane plays before though - big
loads of mad tunes on this tape...kane on a dark one
btw any idea what that tune after the one you wanted iding with the 'love me squeeze me baby' vocal is?

nice 1 steth = i was thinking of the original as it happens but thats great...top nookie!

Actually I think it's the original mix listening again right now (was listening on my phone and tinny earphones this morning) - great Nookie and the remix is particularly lovely.

That tape just makes me :D :D

thanks blossie.....the exhibition moves in to Pheonix Liecester 23 July – 24 August 2015 - am planning to go to Leicester carnival this year (first weekend of August) to catch Aba Shaniti (Rutita1)...will try and catch that too
https://www.ica.org.uk/learning/ica-touring-programme/ica-exhibitions-tour/phoenix/shout-out

on a different note i spent the day in a car doing deliveries yesterday, gorgeous sun and kool fm on the dial....11-1pm Jerome HIll played a 89-90 bleep set...i think ive said before i like JH but i dont really like his radio voice - he finsihed by saying he had so much fun hed go home and rerecord the set "withou his stupid voice all over it" - that'll be up on his soundcloud....

was followed by Hitman who played modern jumpup and even that sounded good in the sun - he played the tunes well

that was followed by Deetek who played the best set of modern DnB ive heard in years - every tune was doing it. Will post the link up when it goes up in the archives.

Seems like its a good time for DNB at the moment, or at least im back into it - and what a great 6 hours of radio on a wednesday daytime.

Ah bless - Jerome's a lovely guy :)

I didn't notice the exhibition was going to Leicester.
I hope they show it in London at some point.

yeah its strange - if its an ICA touring exhibit youd think ICA would have it up at some point...maybe came and went
im not expecting much tbh - what can you show? newspaper clippings?

He posted on Facebook yesterday he did indeed go home and record it and then the recording software crashed... not sure if he'll do it a 3rd time or not!

argh hate that...been there....last year i tired to do a metalheads 20th anniversary mix - recorded it at least 6 times and it kept crashing...turned out i needed to replace to hardrive but fuck that was frustrating. decks not currently set up but will go try and face it again later in the year.

deekays really interesting new dnb set http://koollondon.varsitycloud.co/I...=d7540ec4f9024e088d1c9ae1cf6729ab&AID=1262079
not a classic set as he talks casually over it at times, but the tunes are top i thought...all new and forthcoming....whats going on in 2015 so far...lots of deep rollers, some vocals but some grit in there too

bleep is raw and cold and computerish - compared to some lush pads and shit its not uplifting. all music is uplifting if you like it, but on a grey day bleep wont bring the sun out.
raw cold computerish music uplifts me! i think the most uplifting music ever is acid house. I'm off for a bike ride and am gonna listen to the new afx whilst riding on the thames path. Now that's uplifting.

Check this really old pirate radio list from here. How many of those and the phone numbers can you remember?! 1993 was proper off the hook *fondly reminisces* :D
