Lambeth votes Yes to AV

No great surprise there. I can't say I know anyone in brix who voted no.

Surprised at how fucking pig ignorant the rest of the country is though. Reminiscent of Americans protesting against Obama's healthcare reforms.

'No, we don't want free healthcare, we want to be fucked up the arse by insurance companies!'

=

'No, we don't want a fairer system of electing the people that rule us, we want labour or the tories to be in government forever!'

Nuts.
This phenomenal arrogance and total failure to understand why people - a majority, in fact - have voted 'no' is the single best explanation of how the 'NO' camp got it so horribly, terribly wrong.
so I'm too 'pig ignorant' to vote 'yes', am I.
How lucky I am to have you teach me the error of my ways!

People can vote for smaller parties, without the "wasted vote" issue.

So it promotes voting that is more genuine, less tactical.

The smaller parties command a much bigger share of the vote than they did 20 years ago. The results of FPTP do not reflect this.

The results of AV would ONLY reflect it in terms of the voting record. In terms of representation it would have the opposite effect because candidates from the smaller parties would require an even higher number of votes to be elected. Instead of being able to get some representation with only 30% of the vote, they would have to be able to cross the 50% threshold ahead of ALL the main parties.

So in fact the result of AV would have been precisely the opposite of what you want.

Something that struck me in my data trawl, however, was how consistent it all was. Almost everywhere was somewhere between, say, 62% and 72% No (to pick a 10% band).
Oh my god, roughly 2/3rds of the country are complete know-nothing morons! it's an epidemic I tells ya!
