and the answer to the original question is "no".
the earliest i ever got to the blue note in hoxton square was about 96 for metalheadz....fuckin' wicked

I remember hearing 'stories' about The Metalheadz at the blue note as a nipper - I would have been 13 when you went there Milesy

I really like him as a person
tarannau said:Sadly my experience is that Goldie's a totally arrogant sleazebag. Maybe he's got a good side somewhere or he's mellowed with age, but I couldn't get past the ginormous ego and the twattish behaviour. I wasn't the only one to find him an arsehole either - LQ found the same when she interviewed him for example
Shame really - the guy made some fantastic records and Metalheadz was a fabulous night in the early days, but he lost his quality control and a sense of humility all too quickly. Perhaps he's different now though - I caught him in the aftermath of Timeless, before reality bit and everyone realised that drum and bass artists weren't going to become the next boy bands.
PieEye said:Jealous of all you bastards who went to Metalheadz in the 90s I was stuck in Newcastle at one of the 2 DnB nights we had up there - you'd see the same 20 people at everything

No wonder the youth of today are so muddled up, they need a degree in musical terminology before they can buy a CD
*walks out with a rolled up newspaper under his arm and a cup of tea, comfortable with his pipe and slippers and a well used copy of London Calling ...

Maybe DnB could finally fill the void of proper rebelious musical youth culture!
Anyone come across any overtly political DnB acts DnB mc's?

tarannau said:No.
Bristol and the West had a fine and massive drum and bass scene - particularly in the years running up to Reprazent winning the Mercury, but it was all well after things kicked off in London.
