Is America burning? (Black Lives Matter protests, civil unrest and riots 2020)

Every day I see something that makes me more scared about what is happening in the US.

Saw that last night. Hard to believe shit like that happens. My black American friend says the south is a place that you should just avoid! :(

Mind, that lynching was threatened in the midwest - in Inidana. Equally, one of the worst race atrocities in American history happened in tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1921 (IIRC). It's a myth that American racism is an exclusively Southern thing

From the photo is he another one who used to be a hippie ? Eta oh, the one on the left is one of the victims. Doh.

Just checked.

The bearded guy was one of the victims. Anthony Huber, shot in the chest while trying to disarm the shooter. The other one is the officer who shot Jacob Blake.

Why? When they stopped buying British guns the British stopped pretending to care about them.
it wasn't the british guns but the confederate cotton which attracted british interest. but it was a jest based on the bit about north/south korea in existentialist's post, imagining britain taking the place of the united states. these things are never so amusing when you have to explain them.

there have been several lynchings resulting in death - non white men hung to death by noose in trees - since BLM kicked off again this year.
Police have deemed them all suicides

ETA: for example this is from mid-June

They most definitely do. Some of the most shocking outright hatred of black people I've ever accidentally overheard came when I was in a diner in Boston.
Yup, good ol', genteel, progressive Boston

Boston is well known for its issues with widespread and entrenched racism.

To quote that great line from The Departed, 'You're a black guy in Boston, you don't need me to tell you you're completely fucked!'

wtf!!!!

Ah, and he was the suspected sex offender KennyG heard about. I hope he's still prosecuted for that crime if there's enough evidence - that woman should get justice, still. Seems unlikely that will happen - the trial would be ridiculous, with some people certain he was guilty and others certain it was a fit-up - so that's another fall-out from this shooting. :(

It wasn't one of the men the teenager shot, like KennyG thought (and he definitely was not talking about Jacob Blake), but I bet that rumour's gone all round the world by now.

Clearly, the young white vigilante was just acting in self defense.
Not sure if it is the first or second time he shot at the protesters.

I'm sure that a segment of the citizens of the the US will view the white, vigilante is a hero.

Cue more such vigilante defending their culture in the face of it being canceled.

Got no words, how can you possibly make any comment on something so incredible? Just been dipping into the 92 LA riots and it seemed from the beginning of the situation there that the authorities were either unable to make a decision as to what to do and as such were incapacitated. Or, knowing that national news networks were covering the violence of ethnic ‘minorities’ (South Central being predominantly African-American and Koreatown just next to it)they allowed it to escalate for other reasons.
