Is America burning? (Black Lives Matter protests, civil unrest and riots 2020)

It's totally incoherent when put anywhere near the 'circled A'.

Well, like any symbol it's meaningless without context.

I'm.assuming that the person who put it there made some.kind of association between "chaos" and "anarchy" and decided to use it for that reason.

(I suppose they might have intended to use it magically but I reckon that's highly unlikely.)

But I agree that it's pretty meaningless on that banner.

Jungian ideas are unlikely to be well received on here. ;) :D

I've read various interpretations of what might be meant by a 'collective unconscious', which I struggle to make a lot of sense of. The most convincing interpretations centre on our shared evolutionary history, which leads to our propensity to gravitate towards the discovery and rediscovery of the same archetypes. The term is probably being used metaphorically, though, if that's the explanation.

Ffs.

The story goes that MM thought he'd invented it only to find that it had already been in existence for a very long time.

While some people do find this kind of thing interesting, the constant scoffing mocking and jeering from the gallery drowns out the discussion. I can’t be arsed with it.

Here we go now, getting stuck in a stupid cul de sac. All the other information I offered gets lost under the derision.

Well done lads : thumbs:
I hear you. No differing experiences allowed here if you can't prove it in less than 100 words.

Nowhere have I made any attempt to do so, and you know it.

So when you said, "He kinda accessed it from behind his consciousness and pulled it through", and then when you were asked to clarify and said "Collective unconscious", were you not making a positive claim about the nature of how Moorcock got his idea?

I think 'collective unconscious' these days is mostly just shorthand for 'all those things that happen that seem a bit inexplicable but can probably be explained by you having seen something once and then forgotten about it' tbh.

So it's one of those two-sided ideas that are either "true but trivial" (it's pretty much a given that we're not aware of all our influences), or "huge but unprovable", like a collective mind we've somehow been unaware of for a long time.

I thought for ages it meant "all that stuff the normal people pretend is true in order to not freak the fuck out".

I always liked the B Traven line from the Treasure of the Sierra Madre:
No man has ever originated an idea. Any new idea is the crystallization of the ideas of thousands of other men. Then one man suddenly hits on the right word and the right expression for the new idea. And as soon as the word is there, hundreds of people realize that they has this idea long before.
(gendered language I know, but it's from 1927)

As someone who's not plugged into the Portland scene and whatever debates around tactics are happening there, I can't fully evaluate the merits of this action, but on the face of it, it does sound quite funny. TomUS ItWillNeverWork , thoughts?
Direct action demonstrators change tactics by cleaning up Portland

IWNW : Your posting on BLM thread . You have insinuated clearly that BLM is part of an international global conspiracy and that all those on the streets are simply mindless thugs. You can't see the racism in that ?

Liberals. Go figure.

You repeating that doesn't make it true.

Fuck off and die IWNW. I am not playing to a passing crowd ... but to the people who actually read the thread.
It shows how desperate you are ... using your shitty liberal diversionary tactics (which you stated you are proud of ). Anybody who gives a fuck has probably been following the thread, so your nailing yourself up TBH.

Fuck off and die, eh? See everyone, this is why I'm not ashamed to be a liberal, and not whatever this person is. Life is better when you aren't always angry, VfromtheG.

Where did IWNW say something racist?

They didn't say something racist but reducing BLM to an international communist conspiracy, or a lot of thugs out for violence definitely is racist . You would have to be racist to except either of those sinareos imo . But yes , it is my opinion .
