Is America burning? (Black Lives Matter protests, civil unrest and riots 2020)

I'm sure they've done plenty of that.

I've been getting a bit annoyed recently with organisations like the Loop bigging up the police for their help and support with festival drug testing and treating them like allies when really they are still very much the enemy when it comes to drug enforcement.
I agree with you totally about getting pally with them. It was annoying when some in the extinction rebellion movement were doing similar. It's still a big thing to see happening though.

I am no fan of the police & have (many moons ago) been stopped & searched about 20 times & spent a good few nights in the cells but when I see the Police taking the side of the people I am happy to support them. I am sure they are cunts most of the time but this picture sends messages that I support.

That's what makes the gesture so powerful, though, no? At least some cops are publicly turning on the worst of their own and saying enough's enough. Not sure I can remember ever seeing such a thing before.

Maybe. Why has it taken this long though? How many years combined have they all got and it's taken a man getting killed on camera for them to actually make even a small gesture. How many years have they gone in and done similar things and still gone to work the next day? I've known an ex cop and she got out pretty sharpish once she figured it what it was and that's here in the UK.

He said that last year too. He is loving this.
At the moment he is fighting Twitter, WHO, 'antifa', Democrats controlled cities where there are riots, Biden and a proxy war with China. In his priority tray is massive civil unrest and coroavirus.

Yeah sure I understand why you shared it. They'll still be on the wrong side of the line when it comes down to it though I'm sure.

They exist to enforce the racist and anti working class state, so I'm really not going to get excited by them suddenly making these gestures when they're faced by angry and tooled up protestors who outnumber them massively. Like Rutita says, if they back it up with action then fair enough. Let's wait and see.

It was a massive story that went well beyond the NFL. It was headline news in America for ages and was reported on significantly in the UK too
ok, i'm just saying that it passed me by, i don't read news in depth much - takes up too much time

Protests are spreading across the world.

I can understand why, but this is not going to help in controlling the pandemic.
I'm a bit baffled at the lack of social distancing in the London protests. Plenty of people have worked out ways to do distanced protests, and this crowding together at protests seems to risk sending the virus into the homes of vulnerable people.

As a side-note, I see BLM UK on twitter have said they are still discussing whether they think it's a good idea to call protests right now.

could you give us three, say, Im jsut curious what kind of thing you mean

(in case you're wondering, Does the Constitution Say You Can Shoot Socialists?)

even rightwingers who are not trumpers, as in this horror story:

and as the son of a bus driver, big ups to these:

This certainly seems to have gone more 'mainstream' than most of the other police killings.

Multinational companies like Netflix and Bratz(!!) are putting out statements of support, and even if it is all just cynical PR then that's presumably still a reflection of where they think the public are.

Obviously time will tell if this has any kind of lasting impact or is just a 'moment'.

Fuckin Amazon even posted something, the cheeky cunts.
