And now the gardai are investigating possible "terrorism motives", apparently the 16 yr old Irish youth shouted about the middle east. They've been very careful to say the boy is Irish.

I can personally vouch that they even give 18 year old part time weekend warriors live ammo when on guard duty for the Irish DF, and that was 30 years ago.

Having said that I was half way up a mountain in Wicklow so the person I was most likely to shoot was me.

I imagine the guys on the gate are regs so probably a bit higher up the trust levels.

I did read elsewhere that the ROE for Irish DF gate guards are warning shots first, so they must have done the job and given the stabber pause for thought.
