Don't forget nursery cryme or seconds out.Selling England by the Pound
Yes, I like Nursery Chrymes ,and Foxtrot. Seconds Out not that keen on tbh , I prefer the 1973 live album However, I just think SEBTP is the most rounded albumDon't forget nursery cryme or seconds out.
Any of the Gabriel stuff really.
Lots of Portuguese ( certain age tbf) are really into Genesis , Peter Gabriel era .If only I could get away with playing some in the car tomorrow....I know what I like
I think one of the reasons I have a soft spot for them is that Phil Collins looked not like a rock star, but a geezer down the pub who was probably a painter and decorator.
Anyway, a sympathetic review from the Guardian
Genesis review – rock’s most unlikely stars go out with a bang
Phil Collins is on drily funny form for the band’s final tour despite poor health, as era-defining hits are performed with strength and poignancywww.theguardian.com
The result was some of the strangest Top 10 singles of the era: Turn It on Again dives along despite being in four different time signatures; Mama – a song about that reliable hit-making topic, a teenager who develops an Oedipal fixation on a middle-aged sex worker – remains authentically creepy nearly 40 years on.
Yes far too dear for me. That said a local gig was looking like being nearly £40.
I suppose the typical Genesis fan is retired these days too, so maybe even more of a stretch.
Out of interest, I listened to Selling England by the Pound today, whimsical stuff I suppose but not really my thing. Think my parents had a few albums of that era. Still think I prefer the deeply uncool over-produced 80s stuff, the complex drum arrangements, and the emotion of Phil’s voice (Mama for example). But that’s the beauty of music, we all have different opinions, it’s just some of them are wrong (like mine )
Although it’s usually played for laughs: he mockingly points to himself when I Can’t Dance reaches the line about having “a perfect body with a perfect face”
This is the world we live in"it's just a shame, that's all" Genesis postpone remaining UK farewell tour dates due to positive COVID test
had to check that wasn't viz for a moment
Phil Collins to be quizzed under oath about claims he didn't shower for a year
Phil Collins' ex-wife Orianne Bates made cruel claims that the Genesis star didn't shower or brush his teeth for a year, something he has deniedwww-mirror-co-uk.cdn.ampproject.org
Sad seeing Phil Collins in such poor health. He was a fucking amazing drummer.
