Me too, so I use it all the time. Every time I watch a film. Usually during, so it often takes me twice the length of a film to watch it all
Yes, there's a lot of stuff posted, but I'm not personally very interested in the postings. Though it does appear to be well used.See, thats a film from 1941, yet theres a relatively busy board for it- people have posted repeatedly throughout 2016 Board: How Green Was My Valley (1941) - IMDb

See, if that was on here I'd be in like a shot, picking fights with everyone. But that's because I'm used to you guys. I don't really want to do that with a bunch of usernames I don't have a relationship with.Theres a thread called AN INSULT TO WALES! <come on Danny, sign up and pile in
Anyone found a worthy alternative for imdb forums?
There are two forums who set themselves up to fill the void but they are relatively small:
Film themed Reddit and Twitter threads is probably the closest you'll get in scale.
I'm on a home theatre form called blu-ray.com which is fairly large but half of the members are Trump-supportes and it can get toxic being on there.
blu-ray.com is ok
Yes, here!Anyone found a worthy alternative for imdb forums?
Near daily - Who's that? What they been in?I use it for when maybe I'm wondering the name of an actor. "Who played that character in x or y film?" sort of thing. Or "did x direct such and such a film or was it y?". Or if I'm watching something and I recognise an actor and I wonder where I've seen them before. So pretty infrequently. Maybe once a month at most. And like I say, Wikipedia is just as useful for that.
I'm more likely to look at genre specific websites, say French New Wave or whatever. Or if it's a genre I'm particularly into I'm more likely to buy books.
But I personally find IMDb, the mobile version particularly, very limited and not very useful (to me).
These days I find Wikipedia far more useful when in regard to information on films, especially when it comes to a synopsis, which tends to be more extensive and informative. IMDb is useful when you want something like all the credits to a film or user reviews, but even with the latter, Letterboxd is better now. The contributors there are a little more knowledgeable about film and the standard of writing is higher.I hope they don't kill off user submitted synopsis and so on. I lean on those quite a bit.
All good points. One thing though - IMDB release all their data as downloadable datasets, which means you can integrate it into your own personal databases, which can be useful. They make it bloody tricky to link up the poster images though! These days I find Wikipedia far more useful when in regard to information on films, especially when it comes to a synopsis, which tends to be more extensive and informative. I find IMDb increasingly redundant with its awkward interface and with many features disappearing behind a paywall. Its main demographic also seem to think that film history started with Star Wars, so it's just not where I would go for insightful evaluations of films.
Being the techno-idiot that I am, I have no idea how to use that. All good points.
