I Got Banged In The Arse By SW Trains For £32

I only came back to reply to this. You can do that now. Most ticket types allow a break of journey. The only ones that always don't are Advances, and Megatrain tickets BECAUSE MEGATRAIN TICKETS ARE NOT NORMAL TRAIN TICKETS!!

But hey let's not let the facts get in the way of another ridiculous rant about the railways and how having private rail companies are "bad", when the fact is the MT bargain tickets wouldn't even exist if the rail company's were in public ownership as it is a Stagecoach promotional thing.

Let's face it the only reason this thread was started is because SWT and Stagecoach are private companies, because only a complete numbskull would play the sympathy card over something where they are so obviously in the wrong. And the only reason the rest of you are in agreement is because of your gripe about the railways.

I'm out.
Or maybe you cannot justify the ridiculous T&Cs and have run out of stupid reasons to try and justify them. Judging by the responses to your posts, calling other posters numbskull is at risk of being taken as a compliment.;)

THEN

DON'T

This concept is obviously too difficult for you people to grasp. It's a wonder you are let out on your own.

Tell me, who is forcing to buy through MT. NO FUCKING ONE.

The price sometimes. It would be a lot easier if the numbskull jobsworths you get on trains did not enforce stupid terms and conditions. The world would be a happier place. Are you mates will Coolfonz?

Why don't the same stupid rules apply to all train operating companies or those agents that sell tickets on their behalf? Is it because they is stupid?
Oh FFS how many more times?? Megatrain tickets ARE NOT NORMAL TICKETS.

The only normal tickets are:

Advance
Super Off Peak
Off Peak
Anytime

Megatrain tickets are none of those. They are entirely a creation of Stagecoach.

It would be a "happier place" if rules weren't enforced? Of course it would.....

I realise that Megatrain and Megabus are not normal but why can't their T&Cs be? I think the argument is about how stupid the T&Cs are, not whose T&Cs they are.

so then, why do they hide this fact away on the megatrain website, only mentioning it in item 11 of the t&c's, which themselves are only found in one small menu at the very bottom of the page below the t&cs for megabus?

Why not be upfront about it when actually selling the tickets?

con merchants is why.

Just to be clear, none of us, not fucking one of us, chose to privatize the railways so it was a free for all of subsidy junkies who rip people off based on how popular or how vital their journey is, and spend the rest of their time trying to jib people out of yet more money by putting wanky terms and conditions on the limited number of affordable bloody tickets. I can't wait for the day that they reverse all this shite and some sanity is restored. Until that glorious day my sympathies, like those of anyone who isn't a total and utter twat, are always with the ripped off passenger and never with the pisstaking, price-gouging shitheads who rob us blind year after year.

Why do they have to be? They are a promotional product. Either you are happy with the extra restrictions, or you are not; in which case you shouldn't but from them. Simples.

Anyway they are in this case, as MT tickets are basically a different sort of Advance tickets, and Advance tickets have the same restriction.

Please note: Departure and arrival times displayed are for the main terminus points you selected. More than one stop location may be available in some cities. If the city you are traveling to/from has more than one stop location, you may use whichever location you prefer. For a list of additional pick-up and drop-off points and appropriate departure and arrival times on these trips, please view 'Schedules’ using our Search and Buy facility.
This is what's actually on the megatrain website on the main page for buying tickets, not a fucking hint in that about the requirement to only use the exact station you've bought a ticket from, in fact it gives the exact opposite impression.

It's not hidden away. It's listed under the FAQs, under the "Your Megatrain.com journey".

So what you said here

Because everything should have fair and reasonable terms and conditions for use.

Advance tickets could also be more flexible for negligible extra cost to the train company. They aren't, simply because train companies like the opportunity to grub a bit more money off passengers.

Um, that's talking about coaches, which should be obvious since it's talking about "pick-up" and "drop-off" points.

Going back to what I said in post #164, normal Advance ticket won't let you deviate from your booked itenery, so why would you think these ones would. Secondly, being a 3rd party special offer I'd make damn sure I knew what I was signing up to before I bought it.

YOU: Ey Benito, I booka ma ticket from Perugia, but I get onna Fiorentina, wassa matter hey?

MUSSOLINI: È necessario rispettare alcuna limitazione indicata sui biglietti relativi a viaggi in treni di un particolare Train Società o Treno Aziende (vedi Condizione 10)!

YOU: :(

MUSSOLINI: Shut uppa ya face, I make trains a run on time!

This is a really valid point.
Most customers would not have seen it and that is really not fair.

um that's what appears on the site when buying a megatrain ticket, so it should be obvious that it shouldn't be displayed for megatrain tickets as it's clearly misleading, but yet that is what they display on their website when buying megatrain tickets.

so yes they are misleading people, and I;d be fucked if I'd pay them a penny extra for using the correct train but using it for less of the journey than I'd paid for.

Maybe people should look into what they're buying before they part with their cash. I have no sympathy with people who don't bother then whine when something happens that they don't like. Why would you expect to get the sort of deals available on the MT website and not have to face some penalty for it. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

What? There are exactly 6 questions in that section. Not that hard to find............

You wouldn't ask the question and thus consult the FAQ until you had a question which would necessitate having been previously made aware of the restriction. The clue is in the name.

I look forward to the day our joke of a rail system is renationalised and run for the benefit of the passenger.

I am so glad that you are not in charge of stuff :D
