MOTORISTS in Ellon were left flabbergasted after road signs meant for Berwick-Upon-Tweed – 250 miles away in England – were put up in the Aberdeenshire town.

And the road signs warned that the roadworks would take almost a year.

Today the firm admitted the mistake, which saw workers travel for 420 miles from Birmingham to put up the road signs at the A90 Aberdeen to Peterhead road near Ellon.
