Haunted Appliances

My water boiler goes on and off sporadically but always late at night. That can be a little bit spooky.

Internet of Things?

Kettles and fridges and heating and washing machines and so on with their own internet addresses, reporting back (e.g. to Google or the power company) on what they're up to.

Or turned off to soften demand peaks, then on when there's spare capacity...

Sensible from an engineering POV. but is going to get spooky.

I remember a Twitter account that was set up by a best man to the groom of a newly wed couple. It tweeted every time the marital bed was vigorously shaken (and for how long) and the best man intended it to chart the inevitable waning of their passion, without their knowledge. I can't remember what happened but I'm sure they would have found out.

It's not haunted, but the jig saw we bought from Lidl has a tendency for the switch to stay stuck on the ON position. A little hazardous, to say the least.
